Remember how chaotic the film, Trainspotting was when we all saw it the first time?

It was mind-blowing🤯🤯

My message is you don't have to choose a wedding ceremony that looks like everyone else's if that isn't how you are in 'real life.'

My last wedding ceremony of 2026 is ending on a goodie!

Rikki and Zoe have been an absolute joy to get to know - from our shared love of music taste (and not so tasteful!) to hearing all about the love story and adventures as they fell in love.

Their ceremony is almost here and it will include a mixture of their story so far, their favourite music and a handfasting ritual where they will 'officially' tie the knot.

TW: Covid, Pandemic, Loss, Dead Dads.

Yep, I'm in the dead Dad club.

I am such a daddy's girl too so to have him die so suddenly, whilst not being able to see him for two weeks to say goodbye or even get him the help he needed, has hit me harder than most.

I grieved for my Dad on social media - because we were at the beginning of lock-down when he died and for two years we weren't able to see anyone.

We got none of the usual social cues you would get to help with your grief:

no hugs, no people, no flowers, no ceremony, no funeral.

Only phone calls asking what happened (because it sent shock ripples through the music industry) rather than saying sorry for your loss.

Only Facebook updates with me sharing funny stories of my Dad.

Only clapping for the NHS because my Dad died alone in a ward with Mum fighting for her life in another room and thank goodness they helped her to survive too.

Only my media appearances on ITV news, BBC, channel 5, tabloid newspapers with me fighting to get answers from our government.

That was it - I threw myself into the only way I could process my grief and that was through a TV or phone screen.

Now, I have recently trained as a funeral celebrant so I could give back to my community, to make sure we process our grief with human interaction and saying goodbye to our loved ones the way the deserve.

Dad had 8 people at his funeral, he would have had over 200 as he was so well known in the music industry and we never got to tell his story.

One day, we will hold a memorial for him as a replacement funeral but for now, I am putting my efforts into your stories, your family legacies and stories and making sure that no other family goes through what we did.

Your first draft has hit your mail box - your ceremony is becoming real!

It's easy to get super excited about wanting to read it but I recommend finding a moment where you're both not distracted and allow an hour or so to take it all in.

It's the only time you'll really get to process your ceremony in full!

And yes, I purposely leave in those typos and spelling mistakes just so I know you've read through it and found the mistakes!

It's not a trick - if there aren't any typos. fab!

But it's a first draft for a reason - we have plenty more drafts to come until I really nail it.

The couples I have had so far, sent back their first draft and said:

"We LOVE it!!!"
"Thanks for this draft, we really like it!"
"You've done a fab job so far, thank you!"

I don't think I have done more than 3 drafts sent to one couple until we really nailed the final one.

If you're looking for someone with a vibrant personality, someone that cares about the nitty gritty things that makes your relationship, and is just as passionate about your ceremony as you are, then you've found me!

There's so much more that goes into your ceremony that a script.

I fill it with love, your personalities, your words, your way of thinking, your feelings.

That way, your guests will totally know that this is 'so you!' and will leave your ceremony talking about how spectacular it was over the reception.

If you care more about your wedding ceremony than your after party - you've just found your celebrant of choice.

You won't get this when you book a wedding celebrant like me.

Because I only book one wedding for the whole day.

But when I was a bridesmaid for a friend a few years back, we hopped on a vintage bus that would take us to her wedding venue.

The groom was already there with the registrars and guests so all we needed to do was turn up.

Except there was an accident on the motorway and we were in an engine-off situation!

'Get me to the church one time' couldn't have been sung more times in this moment!

Cue bride crying, bridesmaids feeling useless and the groom trying to calm things down from his end - including trying to keep the registrars from leaving.

Whilst registrars do have more than wedding booked in a day, what are you supposed to do if you get stuck in traffic, have an unexpected dress emergency or can't quite get there?

With a celebrant, you don't have to worry.

The timings for your reception may go slightly off but it's not the end of the world!

This is just something to bear in mind when choosing between a registrar and a celebrant.

it may seem like I don't like registrars on here but they do have a role and their place.

It's just that I know there is so much more choice when it comes to having the ceremony of your dreams, without the hiccups.

Oh and don't worry, we n=made her wedding in the nick of time and the rest went smoothly!

It's been a journey, and onwards we go!

I love looking back on how far I have come, it's easy to forget when you're so busy trying to run a business, or two in my case.

But I like to stay humble and remember none of this dream life was given to me.

I have a vision and I worked for it - tears, trauma and tantrums galore.

I am still at the beginning of my celebrant journey but I have another plan and it's being implemented as we speak.

The good thing is, I have learned from all my wrong decisions, bad choices and mistakes - because if you don't do those things, how can you grow?

It's an actual pleasure to be in my position, someone tell 20 year old Jade that it will all work out eventually, she's just got to figure out how the hard way!

They didn't want the legal part to be a big deal so off they popped to get married via their local council and the registrar and then we had the most spectacular wedding ceremony two days later!

Say hello to your Trailblazing Celebrant of the Year - finalist!!

How on earth I beat 400 applicants to make it into a category where my peers are smashing it I don't know, especially as I am only 15 months into being a celebrant!

What I love about the .weddings awards is that they base their judging on sustainability, customer service, inclusivity and accessibility.

These are four topics I am extremely passionate about when it comes to running a small business and I am still working on perfecting this.

But in the meantime, this is proof that when you book with me, I am a trusted and reliable celebrant to work with.
