As I look back on a month of 'Best Bib and Tucker', one of my favourite stories was from a gent recalling the multiple petticoats his wife wore under her 50s circular skirted dress. Apparently when she was a passenger in their Hillman Imp, the skirt filled the front of the car!

He said he had to dig around underneath to find the gear stick! Then, with a wink, he promised that was all he got up to under her skirt! 😉🙈😂

Two more 'Best Bib and Tucker' sessions to go before these lovely resources come out as part of 'A Taste of Home' 😋

'A Taste of Home' hits the TCC TV screen next week and I have a very varied case and basket for my face-to-face visits 💼🧺

Here's a little taste (pardon the pun!)

👑 Do you remember this face?

On this day in 1918 Eric Morley, creator of Miss World, was born...

Long before reality TV and social media, the Miss World competition was a much-anticipated television event, with families settling down to watch the contestants, evening gowns and all the excitement of the results.

I have the honour of having the 1958 Miss England in one of the groups I visit! She has some amazing stories of her Beauty Queen days 💄❤️

🎵 Today is National One-Hit Wonder Day!

From novelty songs to unforgettable pop hits, there are some songs which surprisingly topped the charts, whilst the singers didn't again... and somehow we never forgot them!

Songs such as:
🎶 Sugar Sugar - The Archies
🎶 The Streak - Ray Stevens

And of course, Itsy Bitsy Teenie We**ie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini by Brian Hyland, which I illustrated for my section on saucy seaside postcards in July 😉

Something that has come up during my current session (in my Crowning Glory section) is when men’s hair was slicked back with Brylcreem or a good dose of hair oil and the antimacassar was there to protect the precious upholstery!

A familiar sight in so many British homes, these decorative chair and sofa covers were as practical as they were pretty.

Asked yesterday if he used Brylcreem, one gentleman replied 'I wouldn't have dared!'

(And we've also had a few giggles when I've asked people what a DA was! 🐥😂)

What a find 👀

An Edison moulded cylinder record in it's original container. This is going to be a lovely start to the recorded music section of this year's 'Let Us Entertain You'.

Pre-dating vinyl records, the song, 'Home Again my Cherry Blossom' was recorded in 1907! 🔊🎵
