πŸš€ Redhill's newest community resource opens today, and it's a game changer!

πŸ‘‰ Redhill Library of Things
πŸ“ Located inside Redhill Library
⏰️ Open today 3pm–7pm
πŸŽ‰ Official opening and Mayor's speech at 4pm

I was invited to a sneak peek of the new Library of Things at Redhill Library yesterday, and can confirm it's packed with useful items available to borrow.

From pressure washers and drills, to a PA system, a gazebo, and a 7-in-1 ladder! it's full of things many of us only need occasionally.

By sharing resources instead of everyone buying their own, initiatives like this help save money, reduce waste, and build a stronger, more connected community πŸ’ͺ

So, what would you borrow first?

Now hands up who has the pot of gold!

I love a colour walk - it's mindful yet full of purpose. And a quick win if you need to get kids/ dogs out the house.

❀️ Do you recognise any of these RED landmarks of Earlswood?

I'd love to see your colour walks of Earlswood. Tag me πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who popped down to The Earlswood Farmers Market on Sunday.

🫢 It was our busiest yet, and it really does mean the world that so many of you show up month on month, to support my crazy idea of starting a Farmers Market and in doing so support your local makers, bakers, growers and farmers.

If you missed it, or have never been... fear not, The Earlswood Farmers Market is held every month.

πŸ“ Find us at the Sea Cadets HQ on Hooley Lane, RH1 6ET on the last Sunday of every month, 10am - 1.30pm.

And a HUGE SHOUT OUT to the amazing stalls for their support.

I'm always keen to improve the market. But beyond asking for a fruit & veg stall (which I'm trying my best on), please send any feedback my way πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

Don't forget to imagine the best case scenario too! Sometimes the utterly unexpected can make a super joyful moment.

And I'm all about more fun, more love, more adventure - in my everyday side questing life!

My son was gutted he couldn't go to the Crystal Palace game in Germany, but we accidentally combined 2 of his favourite joys - aviation ✈️ and Palace when we spotted the Sun Express, Crystal Palace Livery flying overhead! πŸ’™β€οΈ

But I am looking forward to visiting The Project Cafe in Horley when they're next open! Location details in post.

POV: your adult hobbies now include creating tiny moments of joy for no apparent reason because that’s waaaay healthier than whatever else we’re all "supposed to be doing."

So this summer I’m fully embracing my joyful Side Quest energy β˜€οΈBut it'd be better if we did it together. And you absolutely do not need to live in Earlswood to join in.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it...

πŸ’š Create one tiny moment of joy in your community this week, πŸ‘‰ Then tell me what you did because I need more side quest ideas 🀣

The Earlswood Farmers Market is on the hunt for new stalls! πŸ™Œ

We are a produce and plant market only, no "stuff" as we're tight on space, but I'm always looking for new growers, farmers, makers etc to join us - so please reach out of you think this is you. But sadly no room for any more cake bakers, we already have 2 and that's quite enough!

πŸ‘‰ I'm open to suggestions, but would specially like to hear from any local (within a 30 mile radius of RH1)
🚜 farms,
🌢 hot sauce makers,
🍊 smoothies/ or juice makers,
πŸ“ fruit and veg traders,
πŸ₯¨ savoury bakers eg cheese twists, pork pies, scotch eggs etc
πŸ₯“ brunch and breakfast food trucks, e.g. bacon butties, crepes etc (not coffee as we have that)
🌽 handmade gourmet popcorn, crisps etc
🍻 locally brewed/ distilled booze

PLEASE TAG IN ANYONE YOU CAN THINK MIGHT BE INTERESTED.

I charge 10% of what the stall takes on the day, as I think this is most ethical way to do business. All stalls must have PLI, food hygiene, any relevant certification eg license to sell alcohol etc.

Thank you πŸ™ Rachel πŸ’š

Getting my Buckingham Palace garden party invitation this time last year was a proper pinch me moment. They had to leave me 3 voicemail messages 😱 before I even believed it wasn't a scam!

So often community work happens quietly. In muddy fields. In WhatsApp groups. Carrying tables. Holding signs on street corners. Convincing people to come to things. Hoping they do.

And somehow, all those small acts of bringing people together led to an invitation to a Palace Garden Party.

πŸ’š Today, one year later, I’m back doing what I was doing before: organising, building, connecting, championing local people and trying to make Earlswood feel a little more like a community and a little less like somewhere people just sleep.

Turns out the real reward was never the Palace.
It was the reminder that small local things matter more than we think they do.

πŸ‘‰ CONSIDER THIS YOUR CUE TO GO BE PART OF SOMETHING LOCAL.

Shout out to my lovely husband for coming to the garden party with me and for being my biggest supporter with all my mad ideas.
