Un-Convention Preston

Un-Convention Preston Un-Convention Preston will focus on opportunities for artists and independent music companies in the modern music landscape.

Un-Convention is a series of music events and conferences aimed at grass roots and independent artists, promoters, labels, entrepreneurs, writers, technologists and innovators. With discussions around building sustainable careers, developing live opportunities, both in the UK and further a field, as well as a specific look at the scene in and around Lancashire this is a real opportunity for those

looking to develop themselves in the independent music sector. The event aims to connect young and emerging practitioners with each other; to provide them with practical and achievable strategies; and to encourage them to work together to create and support cultural activities in the region. The day is free to attend and includes panels, workshops, clinics and a gig, and will feature some of the most cutting edge artists and thinkers in the modern music industries. Participants include Kirsty Almeida (artist signed to Decca, Universal), Louis Barabbas (Debt Records), Ollie Clueit (My Band is Better Than Your Band and Radio Plugger for Anorak London), Jay Taylor (The Ruby Lounge), John Robb (Goldblade, journalist and broadcaster), Frazer Boon (Mad Ferret), Pat Fulgoni (Kava Kava and Chocolate Fireguard Records), plus more to be announced. Also in attendance will be SoundCloud, Ditto Music, Sentric Music, Band Central and Verbal Vigilante providing clinics and advice.

ANNOUNCING UNCON #100

We are delighted to announce that our 100th Un-Convention will be taking place in Manchester on the 7th and 8th March 2019.

For over ten years we have been organising events for artists, managers, record labels, promoters and venues from grassroots, DIY and independent music scenes around the world to discuss current issues and explore new ways of working and developing careers.

Our goal for this event is to bring together 400 of the most proactive people working in independent music, both in the UK and across Europe, to develop new ideas for the sector and to help those passionate about music to build more sustainable careers and scenes.

Most importantly of all, we see this as an opportunity for those at the coalface of new music, the self-releasing artists and cutting-edge labels, risk-taking promoters and venues pushing new talent against all odds, and the managers, producers, writers and innovators whose vision and belief make this such an exciting to be, to get together, compare notes and find new ways of working and collaborating.

If you make or champion new music then we really hope you can make it.

Un-Convention 100 will take place at NIAMOS, Warwick Street, Manchester, M15 5EU on the 7th and 8th March 2019. The event will be two days of panels, workshops and live music. Tickets are priced at £28.00 and are available at: skiddle.com/e/13414422
