Wow, that was fun. I had the privilege to be at as the Livestream Director for Langham Arts part of the amazing team that helped make this concert accessible from the to The World.
This year saw us design and build a TV studio in the Artist's Bar at the Royal Albert Hall with Big Door Broadcast and Fellow Productions transforming the space into a beautiful set for us to have artists, bands, guests, Choir and Orchestra members drop in for quick interviews with our presenters Gemma Hunt and Swarzy.
Through months of preparation we designed a show that could squeeze in as many guests as we could with transitions from the studio to our roaming team and VTs keeping the pace moving, whilst also keeping the interviews full of thoughtful questions, and some brilliant and insightful responses.
With live broadcasts like this, timing is everything. We had to hand over to the concert bang on time, while still making sure we included every guest.
To help us do that, CueGo tracked each section live, with a visual monitor in the studio showing where we were gaining or losing time. I was also in Gemma and Swarzy’s ears throughout, directing as needed to keep the handovers smooth and respond quickly as things changed on the fly — especially when planned shots and interviews had to move, and when show start was delayed by three minutes.
It was a brilliant example of calm, clear communication behind the scenes, and a real team effort to keep everything feeling seamless on screen.
