Even after she’s gone, Esme is still setting the standard. 🐾
I was recently sent this lovely photograph by a customer who sadly lost her dog, Esme.

Apparently, Esme wasn’t just any dog. She was a lady of distinction. A connoisseur of Harris Tweed in fact. A canine fashion icon with a collar wardrobe for different occasions. (True story)

Seeing these Harris Tweed roses displayed beside her ashes feels like the perfect tribute… elegant, timeless, and every bit as stylish as Esme herself.

Some dogs leave paw prints on your heart. Others leave a legacy of impeccable taste. 💛🌹🐾

Scone Palace Garden Fair nearly finished us off. In the best possible way.

Behind every event like this are countless hours of planning, organising, making, lifting, loading, unpacking, styling, chatting, packing up and doing it all again the next day. It’s easy to forget just how much work goes into creating something visitors experience in a matter of minutes.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Scone Palace and everyone involved in making the Garden Fair happen.

We had two extraordinary days sharing our Harris Tweed flowers with visitors from near and far. The response was overwhelming at times, with so many people stopping to admire the detail, ask questions, and share their own stories and connections to the Hebrides.

It was especially lovely to see familiar faces, meet some of my long-time followers in person for the very first time, and even chat to a few well-known faces from the telly and social media along the way.

To everyone who stopped by for a browse, a chat, a photograph, or to take a wee piece of the Hebrides home with them - thank you.

We left tired, grateful, inspired and already looking ahead to next year.

See you in 2027, Scone Palace Garden Fair 🌿💐✨

Tonight I found myself looking back through old photos of some of the Harris Tweed® heathers I’ve made over the years… and I realised I haven’t shared them properly in a very long time.

Probably because heather is one of the most fiddly, frustrating things I make.

Every tiny sprig has to be shaped individually from woven wool cloth and persuaded into behaving like something wild and delicate. And honestly? Even after years of making it, I still catch myself thinking, “It’s not quite there yet.”

That’s the thing with me though.I’m always studying the landscapes, always looking for ways to make my work feel more real. More windswept. More alive.

Because these pieces were never just about making flowers.

They’re about holding onto something.

A memory of the moorland.A place you grew up.A hill covered in late summer heather.A connection to Scotland that distance can’t quite take away.

Real heather fades with the seasons.

Mine doesn’t.

And perhaps that’s why so many people don’t even realise these are made from genuine Harris Tweed® cloth at all.

They just see the feeling first.

For two days at the end of May, a small piece of the Hebrides will be arriving at Scone Palace Garden Fair… 🌿

I’ll be exhibiting a large collection of my handcrafted Harris Tweed® botanical sculptures, including: wild Hebridean machair flowers, roses, hydrangeas, thistles, and several new pieces.

Many visitors are surprised to discover that every petal is individually shaped from genuine Harris Tweed®, and each piece carrying my registered Maker’s ID with the Harris Tweed Authority.

This year’s display will also feature:
• individually displayed stems alongside pre-arranged pieces.
• larger sculptural arrangements
• exclusive event pieces
• newly released work not previously available
• and subtle references to the landscapes that continue to inspire everything I create.

The Beechgrove Garden team and other well known names from the gardening world will also be attending across the two days, making it a wonderful celebration of craftsmanship, horticulture, and creative design.

As many of you know, I’ll soon be relocating my workshop back to the Isle of Lewis permanently so this will be the final opportunity to view such a large collection of my work on the mainland before the move.
