A couple of sneak peeks into the illustrations that make up this years Postcards From… calendar.

I loved last years calendar and all the layers it had with it so much of course I had to do it again, although it has created a bit of pressure to make it as good if not better!

I’ve loved doing all the research and working out what to add to each months illustration.

The early bird release will be on Monday at 6pm with only 50 available. Because the calendar isn’t 100% finished yet the first 50 will receive the 12 limited postcards FREE (it’ll be £22 rather than £28).

Make sure you put those reminders on!

I am so excited to finally announce the the 2027 Doodling Lucy illustrated calendar theme:

Postcards from…

As many of you know I have lived the past two years on the other side of the world in Australia, and this year is the first time I’ve been properly home in a long time. I wanted to revisit and document some of the my favourite places as well as a few that have been on my ‘one day…’ list.

12 places, 12 months, lots of details and discoveries on each page (think local walks, facts, recipes)

This year there will be TWO options when it comes to preordering your calendar:

1. The calendar + 12 limited edition postcards/mini prints (different illustrations to the months) but linked to each place (with charity donation): £28
2. The calendar (with charity donation) £22

The first preorder window will be on Monday 7th September 6pm BST with only 50 available, these will be £22 but will include the 12 postcards for FREE - why? Because (don’t tell anyone) I haven’t actually finished all the painting yet and this is my way of saying thank you for coming back to the calendar time and time again each year.

So set those alarms because these first 50 will go QUICKLY

If you’ve been following my stories today you’ll know I’ve been taking fresh product photos!

I love styling my products but what I love even more is being able to eat all the food I buy for the photoshoots after - because you’ve got to have the best when it’s for business right?!

Although I think I upset my Dad when I said I used his homemade loaf as it “wasn’t at all good” and “you should have used it before it was cut”

Nothing a bit of photoshop can’t sort anyway 🤫

Oh HI new bestseller!

I’ve been crunching some numbers and stats over on the website and it turns out these have been this year’s best seller (so far) and I can see why. They’re one of my favourite products 🥹🫶🏻

I am proud to be British, and I’m proud to be a British business. But that does not mean 100% of my products are made in the U.K.

Something I always want Doodling Lucy to be is honest and open about all aspects of the business. I never want to be known as someone who ‘Greenwashes’.

Whenever a new product is created I will try my hardest to source as much as I can in the U.K - which often means that my profit margins are MUCH smaller. Where I really ran into this was when I decided to branch into clothing.

Fashion is renowned for being unsustainable, which is why I am so proud to use the company I do for my jumpers. Their prices are much higher and rightly so because they are incredibly thorough.

I could talk about this for days, but I have limited space here and need to get back to the calendar - but, if anyone ever wants to discuss it further my DMs are always open as are my e-mails.

So many tabs open in my brain and so many things running at once but I’m definitely locked in on the creative side of things which is good because creative block is the WORST.

Honestly the AI illustrations, posters, captions etc have been chipping away at my self esteem and my morale ever since they came into play but this morning was the straw that broke the camels back.

I am not one to name names, I don’t think that’s the answer (I’m also really hoping this stockist is just naive to the ways of AI), I always think education is the answer. Which led me to creating this post.

Nor am I saying that I’ve never used AI I have in certain aspects of my life, but as much as I possibly can I try and avoid it.

Now it’s here, it’ll be much harder to remove it, so I guess it’s up to us to choose who we support and what we value.

I really hope laws come into play where people have to state that AI art is used because hopefully that’ll make it clearer for everyone.
