Nobody really wants to think about funerals, either their own or those of their loved ones, but just as we plan for other eventualities in life, it is important to give some thought to what sort of funeral you would like for yourself and to make sure that your nearest and dearest are aware of your wishes. Not only will it ensure that you get the send-off that you want but it will also make their lives a lot easier when the time comes.
It can be even harder to broach this sensitive subject with elderly relatives but once you get through that initial barrier you may find that they are actually pleased to have the opportunity to discuss their wishes and it can lead to an interesting chat about their life. You may even find out some things about their early days that you were unaware of.
Ask them about their favourite songs and poems. Anecdotes and family memories can all be incorporated into a personal and memorable funeral service that truly reflects the personality and life of the deceased.
The role of the funeral celebrant is to work with you to give the perfect send off for your loved ones. To ensure that you can celebrate their life, honour their memory and share your grief with family and friends in the way that you, and they, would want.
