Our first three Slightly Lost Trail Co. races are officially on sale! 🥳

Which means there’s one VERY important thing we need to get sorted…

VOLUNTEERS! 🫡

No trail race happens without the brilliant people out on the course making it all work.

We’re looking for people keen to get involved as:

🙌 Marshals
⏱️ Timekeepers
🏃 Sweepers
🏁 Start/finish crew
🦺 General race-day legends

And we want to make sure volunteering works both ways.

Volunteer at one of our races and we’ll give you race credit for an equivalent-distance race with us. 🎟️

So if you marshal a 10K, you earn a 10K race credit. Help us put on a great day for the trail-running community, and we’ll get you back out there racing at another event.

A QUICK NOTE ABOUT EXISTING PURPLE GECKO RACE ENTRIES

Since announcing Slightly Lost Trail Co., we’ve had a few questions about existing race entries and races missed due to handover.

So we wanted to explain exactly where things stand.

Slightly Lost Trail Co. is an entirely new and separate business.

We have taken over the races and events previously run by Purple Gecko Events, but we have not taken over the company itself, its finances, or its previous ticket sales.

This means that any entry previously purchased through Purple Gecko Events was a transaction with Purple Gecko Events - not Slightly Lost Trail Co.

Legally and financially, those bookings have not transferred to us.

However…

We know that behind every entry is a runner who paid their money expecting to take part in a race.

We also want to look after the community we’re inheriting and start Slightly Lost Trail Co. in the right way.

So, as a goodwill gesture, where a Purple Gecko entry relates to a race that has not yet taken place, we will offer the runner a race credit or deferral towards a Slightly Lost Trail Co. event.

We want to be completely transparent: this is something Slightly Lost Trail Co. is choosing to honour, rather than money or bookings that have transferred across to us.

We’re a brand-new business finding our feet, but the running community is at the heart of what we’re building.

If you have an outstanding Purple Gecko entry for a race that hasn’t taken place, we will be in touch via resultsbase… we have your entry and will send out options for you.

Don’t worry about sending anything in as we will not be able to process the incoming traffic 😅

Right then… this is getting very real. 😂

Entries are officially OPEN for three of our upcoming races! 🌲🏃‍♂️

💧 Siblyback Scamper - Saturday 5 December
🎄 Fairytale of Newquay - Saturday 12 December

You’ll notice one race is currently missing from the entry list:

We’re still awaiting final council permission for the Lobster Lollop, so we’re holding off opening entries until we have the green light.

As soon as we get it, you’ll know about it. 🦞👀

An update from Slightly Lost Trail Co

We're busy behind the scenes rebooking our first races with all the necessary organisations.

We're also waiting for the race entry account to be transferred to us. Once it is, we can get in touch with everyone who has already entered. Fingers crossed that happens in the next few days. After that we'll reopen entries and confirm the final line-up.

Here's the plan for the rest of 2026:

🦞 Lobster Lollop: Saturday 14 November
🌳 Readymoney Ramble: Saturday 21 November
💧 Siblyback Scamper: Saturday 5 December
🎄 Fairytale of Newquay: Saturday 12 December

Unfortunately, this means the Scorrier Halloween and Haldon Halloween races won't be going ahead this year. As soon as we have the entry details, we'll contact everyone who entered those races directly.

We are Slightly Lost Trail Co and are taking over the Purple Gecko races now that they’re no longer able to trade. We’re still in the process of gaining the access to all the accounts etc, but we will be in touch soon with all the race entries.

We understand communication has not been great but we are working on getting through everything as fast as we can.

We are currently rebooking the venues for the races that have been out on hold, and will be announcing when the events are confirmed.

Tickets already purchased will be honoured.

We are working as fast as possible to work through it all so please stick with us. You will get info as soon as we have it.

Update 21st August.

Thank you for your patience whilst I have been trying to arrange a way forward for PGE. I appreciate that not knowing has been frustrating but I needed to find a way to ensure that PGE continued in line with our goals & vision and also that your entry was honoured.

The last few weeks has been a tough period and one I never wished to have to go through, but the time it has taken to find the best way forward was needed in order to achieve the best possible outcome for yourselves.

With that in mind I can announce that we are very pleased to say that we have come to an agreement with a third party and the intent is to officially hand over the reins next week and allow the company to move forward with the PGE tribe in the direction we always envisaged. We will email you further next week with details regarding that.

With regards to entries and events, we are currently finalising the details and all entrants have been emailed this afternoon.

Back in 2019 when I still had blonde highlights a side parting and a quiff, after working in the industry for 20 years I decided to put on the very first Purple Gecko Events Trail run. It was a sell-out Twilight Run at Cardinham Woods, I don’t think I got a wink of sleep the night before, it turned out to be a great success and the start of an incredible journey.

Since that cold winters night some seven years ago PGE has blossomed and developed into a beautiful community that is full of the most amazing people. Whether the personal chosen task to be completed was been a 2.5k fun run or a 100 (plus) Mile Ultra Marathon, everyone has participated for their own specific reasons pertinent to themselves, but all had one thing in common, the compassion and willingness to support one another in the challenge ahead. This is something that has filled me with pride, and in a world where it would seem that so few seem to care so little about anyone or anything, it has been a constant reminder that I need not lose faith in humanity just yet.

Unfortunately however, it is now apparent that in order for PGE to be able to move forward, it needs to be in a different direction, with a new Captain at the helm, as I am no longer in a position to be able to do so. This decision fills me full of great sadness, it is a decision I sincerely regret having to make, but I now have no choice. I am working hard to find a possible solution and I keep doing so for another 14 days. All participants currently signed up for a race will be emailed over the next 24hours, and I will keep you updated on a changes or decisions that will be made.

I hope that, as someone once said, ‘It is not the end, it is not even the beginning of the end, but it is perhaps, the end of the beginning’
