Hi, I’m Karen, a graphic designer based in Newcastle and the creative behind Dainty Bee Design. My background is in print: project management, pre-press and artwork design, where I have worked with some of the UK’s largest clients across both large and small format print. That experience gave me a solid foundation, but what I truly love now is putting those skills into something more personal; cre

ating wedding stationery that feels heartfelt, unique, and beautifully designed to reflect each couple’s story.​

Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors, whether that’s wandering along the North East’s stunning beaches, exploring the countryside with my family or finding a little calm on my yoga mat. Yoga, for me, is a mix of flexibility and precision, a reminder of balance and compassion and that same approach flows into my work. I also have a passion for creating vibrant, nutritious, plant-packed meals, which gives me another outlet to blend creativity with wellbeing. Recently, I have rekindled my love of photography. I feel design and photography go hand in hand, and I am lucky to be able to assist with photography at some wonderful local schools and nurseries. It’s been an exciting new avenue that brings fresh inspiration into my creative journey, sitting perfectly alongside my work with Dainty Bee Design. Looking for business stationery?

I just wanted to share a little update 💚

Yes, that’s a cast on my arm. My right arm, and I’m right handed 🫣

While this incident happened 1st May and I’d been checked over at hospital, I had been wearing a removable splint for 3 weeks before it was decided I should have an x-ray because of the persistent pain in my hand. I’d been going about business as normal but in a little ‘soft tissue’ pain.

It turns out I’ve broken the scaphoid bone in my hand, and now it’s in a cast I’m finding it impossible to move my wrist for computer work - leaving me a bit cack-handed 😆 Today is my first day back to work wearing the cast and I’m finding it so frustrating!

So advance apologies for delays and misspellings in messages - there’s been some crazy auto corrected messages sent to my hubby!! 😂 I also can’t drive with the cast, which is adding an extra layer of frustration for my postal orders.

I’m hoping to be fixed within 3 months but it could take longer because this bone is well known for taking a long time to fix!!! 😭

I’m still working - just awkwardly! 😂

….. Well…. I was pulling the clothes airer back through the kitchen, full of clothes, I hadn’t seen the dishwasher door was open…. and bang! Fell, hit my hand off the glass in the new wooden door (it is slightly cracked), landed on the dishwasher door (which is now buckled but probably saved a hip fracture), and hurt my elbow.

Amazing ey?!
Simple things.

I’m ok anyway - work will get done, so no panic there! 😊

I had a lovely little road trip to Oban & Mull a few weeks back.

Here are some photos I took - there’s still a load more to do, but since a broken scaphoid in my right hand is hindering my progress, I’ll just leave these here for now until I can do more without pain.
