It was great to see the Rowbothams Round Rotherham Run runners yesterday as we were out and about snapping gorgeous photos of the OCU route.

Congratulations to everybody who took part!

It was the most beautiful day to see the Oak and Coal route in all it’s green and sunny glory! Just like it will be next July!

Almost 50% of places have sold out in just over a week, so we know you’re all excited too! ❤️💙

Wow, wow, wow!

In three days 40% of the places for OCU have sold. You are all incredible! We have been overwhelmed by the rush and the love for this little event.

It’s going to be a brilliant day and we’re out and about on the route this weekend to photograph some of the highlights to keep dropping insights for the next few weeks. We won’t spoil it though, there’s loads to come and see for yourself on 17th July 2027.

If you’re still thinking on it, don’t delay sign up too much though. This is going to be a sellout, just like Trent Valley Ultra was last year!

Sorry, not sorry, for the spam this weekend, but we don’t want anybody who would benefit from the early bird pricing for OCU to miss out.

You’ll see gorgeous trails in Sherwood Forest and the beautiful quaint former colliery villages in North Notts.

You’ll start and finish at a gorgeous, friendly brewery, Ticking Clock Brewing .

You’ll be supported at checkpoints, there will be a party after, you’ll take home a commemorative pint glass and some Strava art shaped like a chicken.

£35 sign up til midnight tonight. Just £45 after until we’re sold out.

Another event, the same finisher’s memento. It’s our Oak and Coal logo, painstakingly designed by a member of team Quadrio, in the 2027 colour way, on a pint glass.

In July the Oak and Coal route is full of blooms and greenery. It’s a beautiful time of the year to see the highlights of the North Nottinghamshire countryside.

You’ve a full ten hours to complete the 50k route, so plenty of time to take in your surroundings. We will be out next weekend papping more of the route to share with you as well.

Entries are £35 solo or £70 enter together with a wicked team name, until Sunday evening.

The Route:

A beautiful highlights tour of North Nottinghamshire. It starts and finishes at tickingclocktaproom, takes the canal out towards Clumber Park (a beautiful National Trust) estate, and winds its way around the lakes and Sherwood Forest. Then it dives into the villages of Norton and Cuckney, onto the gorgeous Welbeck Estate, running though the impressive Creswell Crags, through to Whitwell and skirting the woods there, back through smaller villages and up onto the canal (also the Cuckoo Way) back into the brewery.

We have lovingly called the route the ‘chicken run’ and if you’re on Strava, the Strava art is a free added bonus!

The paths are runnable. The elevation is around 457 metres, mainly in the second half. Which means you can run, jog, Jeff or fast walk around Clumber with ease and then really enjoy a different view around each corner towards the end half of the route.

We will have a well tested GPX file and written instructions. Please do note that it’s not a signposted course, in the main.

Well that was an epic launch night ❤️💙.

If you hadn’t heard, we were at Ticking Clock Brewing with Ticking Clock Run Club (all of you are gorg) to launch the Oak and Coal 50k.

A 50k, with a party after. A pint glass as your memento. Plenty of support on route. A beautiful location. Amazing beers (alc free also on tap here).

Ticking Clock and Quadrio Events welcome you on July 17th, 2027.
