After five incredible years, we’ve made the difficult decision not to renew our lease, meaning The Granary Arts Café will soon close its doors.
Over the last five years we’ve seen this space become home to exhibitions, workshops, gigs, conversations, friendships, ideas and countless moments of creativity. Together, we’ve built something we’re incredibly proud of.
Like so many independent businesses and community spaces, the economic reality has simply become too difficult for us to continue.
We won’t be having the big farewell we once imagined, but that’s okay. The Granary was never about one moment - it was about hundreds of moments. Every exhibition, every workshop, every performance, every conversation and every cup of coffee shared has become part of its story. That’s how we’d like it to be remembered.
A community isn’t defined by how it ends. It’s defined by everything it created along the way.
This page will remain semi-active, as an archive of everything we created together, and we’ll also be working on a project to document and celebrate The Granary’s story and the community that made it so special whilst highlighting the difficulties facing the arts and small business. We’d love for you to be part of that when the time comes.
If you currently have artwork displayed at The Granary, please get in touch to arrange collection. We’ll be safely storing all artwork while we organise its return, so there’s no rush if you can’t collect it straight away.
From the bottom of our heart’s thank you. ❤️
