Playing on the back of a lorry, and then stopping to watch a parachute jump, was a new experience for Glevum Big Band. In keeping with the 1940-45 theme we played a selection of swing music and songs from the era. Thanks to the organisers of the VE Day Commemoration at Dene Magna, the Royal Navy parachutists, and Lydney Music who did an excellent job with the sound. A special mention for our 1st trumpet, John Butson, who played the Last Post, as part of the Remembrance ceremony.

Wow 🤩 the sun shone, the singing was amazing and although the UXB display team had a nasty RTA the day before and were unable to attend, The Royal Navy Raiders did a great job especially with the brisk breeze and the evening concert really banged out some classics…the only disappointment was the number of visitors was down on last year, but that did not spoil the quality and effort that went into the day.

Danters Fair have popped in this evening to start their set up ready for tomorrow, EV Cargo have set the stage, and the landing zone is marked out ready for the Royal Navy Parachute Team…EVEN THE WEATHER FORCAST LOOKS GOOD!🎉 Bring a seat to enjoy the music, bring an appetite or a picnic, and enjoy a stroll in the sunshine around all the great stall holders who will be here. 🤩🎉🤩 Then chill out and enjoy the evening concert with Fern and the gang, Ironeyeser, and New Voyage…all covered by one ticket and 18’s and younger free entry.
