What is an Instagram Strategy? 💐
(And how do I use it to grow my flower business online?)

Let’s keep things nice and simple, shall we?

A strategy is, quite simply, a plan.

A strategy (plan) is made of up a few things, including:

🪻 How many pieces of content you’ll share – you MUST share consistently
🌹 When you’ll share them
🪻 Using specific types of content for different outcomes (ie: Reels to attract non-followers, with the aim of turning them into followers)
🌹 Content topics (what your content is about)
🪻 SEO – search engine optimisation, such as keywords

To create a strategy, you need to work out what you want to achieve first.
👉🏻 Do you want more followers?
👉🏻 Sell more flowers?
👉🏻 Get more awareness of your brand (increase the amount of people who know your business exists?)

When you know what you WANT to do, you can create a STRATEGY (plan) to make it happen.

It really is as simple as that!

What are Instagram goals? ❓

(And why do I need them to boost my business?)

Instagram goals are important when trying to build a business using Instagram for business, for so many different reasons.

How will you know whether or not you are successful, if you don’t have goals to tick off when they’re done?

How can you create a marketing strategy for your floristry business when you don’t have any goals to work towards?

These goals can look different for different businesses, but usually include things like:
1. Increased brand awareness
2. Higher online orders
3. Drive more traffic to a physical shop
4. Boost followers

You must first work out what you want to achieve, then create a strategy for it.
For example, if you’re looking to gain followers, Reels are the best type of content to use.

If you’d prefer to drive people to your shop and boost sales, on the other hand, Carousel posts and Stories are great ways of nurturing your audience and encouraging them to buy.

📩 DM - Instagram Marketing Glossary

Understanding DMs (Direct Messages) is important for building actual relationships with your followers/audience… which, in turn, transforms them into customers! 🧾

Answering questions, discussing custom floral arrangements, or offering quotes for wedding flower packages -- DMs are, essentially, the “hi, can you help you?” part of selling.

(I worked in-store at Vodafone, so I WAS the “hi, can I help you?” person.)

Have your floral arrangements been seen in a magazine?

Had your flowers featured in a local newspaper?

Delivered a floral bouquet to a local event or big businesses?

You should tell your social media followers/customers all about it!

Why?

Because we all want to keep up with the Joneses, right? If customers see that those other businesses/people/magazines/whatever are interested in your wares, they will be too.

𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: I’ve made a page for my floristry business but I’m not really sure where to start to get people to ‘like’ it. What’s the best way to do it?

𝐀𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫:

Firstly, start with your friends and family — invite them to ‘like’ your page. You could also ask them to share your Page with their friends, family and co-workers, essentially recommending your business to everyone they know online.

Secondly, tell your current customers (if you have them) about your new page. You could add the information to your receipt, business card, flyers, website, and other places.

Thirdly, you could consider promoting your page. Facebook advertisements offer great value for money, are fairly simple to work (once you know the right bits to click on), and can help with things like getting more Page ‘likes’, boosting an offer so that thousands of people can see it (sponsored posts), and more.

Fourthly, create Facebook Posts that generate engagement — likes, comments, shares, etc.

This is a GREAT question and I’m about to create a nice, information-packed blog post answering the question in greater detail. Keep your eyes peeled, folks!
