�A talk with Dom Bridges, Founder of Dulcie (formerly Haeckels)
How does a business grow from a single rented shop in Cliftonville into an internationally recognised brand, while staying rooted in place?

Thanet Business Support Programme are delighted to be welcoming Dom Bridges, founder of Dulcie (formerly Haeckels). Dom’s passion for building a brand deeply rooted in Margate is deeply admired; drawing on local natural resources, creating products with a strong sense of place, and developing the much-loved community sauna at Walpole Bay tidal pool.

From Margate to London (and even briefly Tokyo) Dulcie’s products are now sold internationally. But it hasn’t been plain sailing, and Dom’s approach to business is anything but conventional.

In this candid conversation, Dom will share the real story behind building Dulcie in Margate:�• growing a place-led brand�• expanding beyond Thanet to London and internationally�• creating community-led projects�• navigating growth, investment, risk and resilience

We’re excited to share our festive new activity for the community — the Margate Christmas Bauble Trail!

The trail runs from 28th November to 24th December, making it the perfect festive adventure to enjoy during Christmas in Margate on 29th November. ✨

🗺️ How to Join In
Children can pick up their free trail sheet from any of the participating shops:

• Silly Margate
• Little Fish Café
• Mr B’s Sweets & Gifts, Margate Old Town
• Charlie’s Café
• Margo
• Nature’s Nook
• McDonald’s
• Pilgrims Charity Shop
• Mill Place Margate

🔍 Then simply look for the beautifully illustrated baubles by displayed in their shop windows and complete your trail sheet!

🎁 Once you’ve finished, return your completed sheet to King’s Emporium in the Old Town to collect a festive treat!

🎉 £933.24 Raised for The Veterans Association ! 🇬🇧💙

This morning, representatives from Margate Town Action Group (MTAG) had the pleasure of visiting the Veterans Association to officially hand over the fantastic total raised during the first-ever Margate Vintage Weekend, held over the VE Day Bank Holiday in early May.

MTAG’s Lesley Kemp (one of the directors) and Volunteer Co-ordinator Karen Brinkman spent time chatting with veterans, exploring the beautiful new sensory garden, and presenting a cheque for £933.24 raised through the generosity of the local community. 🙌

Organised by MTAG’s dedicated committee, directors, and volunteers, the weekend was a brilliant celebration of Margate’s heritage and spirit – and was such a success that plans are already underway to make it an annual event, using the first May Bank Holiday to officially launch Margate’s summer season! ☀️🌊

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who made it possible:

💷 Donated funds
🏪 Dropped change into shop collection pots
🎁 Donated prizes (over 30 local businesses supported!)
🍻 Took part in collections at Olby's Soul Café, NorthDown Brewery, and Margate Beach Club
