Do you need planning permission for a shipping container conversion?
It's one of the questions we're asked most.

The answer is: it depends on how the container will be used and where it will be located.

Planning permission may be required if:
✔ It's a permanent installation
✔ It's being used as a commercial premises
✔ It's located in a conservation area or protected site
✔ The intended use changes the land's use

Temporary installations, event structures and some portable buildings may have different requirements.
