Ah yes... Early May Bank Holiday Monday in England. Fire lit, heating on, hearty casserole simmering away, listening to the wind and rain lash down outside. But Summer is just around the corner right? 🙄

Don’t get me wrong, the garden is in desperate need of the rain... just wish I didn’t have to go out there to cut some mint for the casserole! 🤣

Opening this BEAUTIFUL book by is like taking the lid off a big tin of Quality Street and being entranced by the jewel-like contents... you can’t wait to get stuck in!

If you’ve ever thought you can’t be a gardener because you don’t have a garden you NEED this book in your life. Everything in it is grown in containers, which doesn’t mean small and nondescript, anything but. Go big, go bold and go bright for almost year round beauty.

I was supposed to be working this afternoon... so much for that idea! The Flower Yard is just too tempting.

So far my Easter weekend has consisted mostly of digging the veg patch. Muck spreading this afternoon 😁

Beautiful ornamental cherry blossom (just waiting for the wind to scatter it like confetti... every. single. year!) and the absolutely gorgeous new growth and pink baby cones on the latch tree.

Just the day for homemade spicy parsnip and Bramley apple soup and flatbreads. The kitchen is such a source of comfort when all is miserable outside don’t you think?

Lovely chunky wool from for a new knitting project. Given that I haven’t knitted anything for about 35 years it might be a challenge (although not as difficult as choosing what wool from ‘s GORGEOUS stock!) Now, to remember how to cast on... 🤣

Apples and cinnamon are one of my favourite combinations, especially at the onset of autumn. Apple crisps are a yummy, healthy snack and soooo easy to make! Great for using windfall apples too.

Preheat the oven to 150C. Use an apple corer to remove the core, then slice very thinly, about 1mm thick if possible. Lay on a baking tray and sprinkle with cinnamon, then bake for 45-50 minutes turning half way through and sprinkling the other side with cinnamon if desired. They crisp up as they cool (if you can wait that long)!

I’m not expecting these to last beyond today! 😋

La Recolleta” dahlias, drumstick scabious seed heads and fountain grass in a quirky wall mounted display. Love the textures of twigs, wool, flowers and seed heads all mixed up together 😍

The alchemilla mollis leaves are bedecked in their finest dewy jewels this morning... isn’t nature beautiful? I often wish we humans could see the natural beauty in ourselves more easily.
