TRUE STORY:
I once went scouting at a wedding fayre and, to my surprise, the very first supplier stand couples saw when entering the main room was… a weight lost company selling diet shakes and meal replacement bundles..
I was genuinely shocked.
If I had been a bride attending that event, I would have found it quite upsetting. It was probably just poor planning by the venue rather than an intentional message, but it highlighted something important:
The pressure to lose weight before a wedding is very real.
Please, please, please don’t feel like you need to reach a certain number on the scale or fit into a specific dress size to deserve beautiful wedding photos.
The truth is that when you look back at your photos in 10, 15, 30 years or more, you won’t be analysing your arms, your stomach, or every little thing you worried about in the mirror.
You’ll see the excitement of the day.
You’ll see the love between you and your partner.
You’ll see the people who came together to celebrate your marriage.
You’ll see memories.
Now, if losing weight is something YOU genuinely want to do, that’s completely valid too.
Just make sure your goal is realistic and takes into account your timeline, your work commitments, wedding planning stress, family life, and your overall wellbeing.
And if it’s within your budget, don’t hesitate to seek professional guidance from a qualified dietitian, nutrition professional, or personal trainer. Reaching a goal shouldn’t mean exhausting yourself physically or mentally.
Your wedding day is not a deadline to become a different person. It’s a celebration of the person your partner already chose. 🤍
