Drum & Bass has come a long way from hearing it being played in the sweaty dark nightclubs like the Paradise club in 93, with condensation dripping off the walls to 30 years later hearing our favourite d & b tunes being played by Fabio & Grooverider with an orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall. It was great to be at the Victoria and Albert Museum on Friday to hear Fabio & Grooverider and speak about their music journey. The talk was moderated by the wonderful Jacqueline Springer who curated “The Music is Black exhibition” taking place at the V & A East. It was a bit spooky when they were talking about the Government and the Criminal Justice Act 1994 and all of our phone alarms went off because of the Government alerts. Strange timing.😉Took the munchkin along still trying to get him into my favourite music but to no avail. 💚The DJs also did a book signing which was great. Looking forward to seeing the exhibition.

I saw a video recently of a guy completely lost in the music, dancing freely and having the best time. A few of the comments assumed he must be on something.

Turns out he was 17 years sober. He was just feeling the music.

It made me think how quickly we sometimes associate really letting go on a dancefloor with being under the influence.

Sometimes it’s just the music. The connection. The feeling.

For me, it’s honestly one of the best feelings ever - just feeling completely free on a dancefloor.

Music is the high. ❤️
