Early autumn allotment b***y. The leaves this year have been incredible, the beans which are usually so reliable have been rubbish. But I’ve been very happy munching kale, chard and spinach at every meal. Much as I love al dente veg These leaves also lend themselves to a longer slower cook with plenty of olive oil and spices - I love garlic chilli and rosemary or Indian type spices and maybe some onion - so they’re really reduced to an intensely flavoured, sludgy almost-puree. Less nutritious but so delicious

Back in May we catered this bonkers and brilliant Mad Hatter’s birthday tea party for my art consultant friend Selina at the in Queen Square. the Guild was founded in 1884 by members of the then radical Arts and Crafts movement and led the way in celebrating simplicity in design, fine craftsmanship and the unity of form and function . A joyous occasion brilliantly decorated by Selina’s husband Paul and set off by Josie’s fabulous teapot cake, just visible at the far end of the table.

Soup shots for our delightful canapés event in honour of a visiting VIP member of the of Canada. Here mint and pea with basil oil and gazpacho with Parmesan tuiles. In honesty the tuiles are a bit more artisan (wonky) than I’d have liked but after this long in the business I really think I am learning to get these things in perspective 😱 🔥 🪓

Sunday’s restorative post party brunch for 40 guests. Here’s the cold buffet plus eggs, bacon and spicy shakshuka to order. All would have been a breeze except we’d been catering a rocking 60th the night before and our poor team had to start again at 6.30 on Sunday ❤️

End of summer pavlova, my favourite because you can include those lovely strings of tart redcurrants which only appear from August. Perfect for a late summer garden party. Nice work

Wedding set up for our lovely clients Rachel and Jonathan at the fabulous . The West Reservoir centre in Stoke Newington is a 1930s built pumping station and the hydraulic machinery is still in situ - you can see parts to the left of the pic. We love the industrial architecture and the giant windows overlooking the water that bathe the whole room in light. We served canapés on the terrace by the reservoir then brought the guests in for sharing plates and dessert. Later there was dancing and a cheese wedding cake. The best sort of do.

This is our orange almond & polenta cake, one of a handful of recipes that we’ve been making since Black Pot launched way back when. It’s still one of our most popular desserts and useful too because it uses olive oil instead of butter hence it’s dairy free and almonds and polenta but no flour so it’s gluten free too. It also happens to be bloody delicious, with a sharp orange lemon syrup poured through the cake so it’s almondy, citrussy and sticky while the polenta brings a delightful crunch.

This perfect birthday lunch party was originally meant to happen in May but was cancelled at the eleventh hour when our lovely clients came down with Covid. We were all devastated but then it rained and we thought maybe it was a blessing in disguise, and so it transpired: when the party finally happened two months later, the sun blazed down, the gorgeous Indian tent from glowed and the garden was in luxuriant bloom. A joyous occasion all round, beautifully shot by

It’s been a breathlessly busy summer, definitely back to pre pandemic levels with k***s on. We’ve done some really fun events including this tea party in a client’s spectacular garden with its very own field of poppies.

Black Pot Catering London

We are a North London catering and event planning company with a reputation for glorious food and faultless, friendly service.

Our name - Black Pot - was inspired by the gorgeous Colombian tierra negra pots which owner and former TV producer Lisa Silcock discovered on her travels, and which produce sumptuous, moreish food for sharing.

True to our name, our dishes are beautiful to look at and big on flavour, using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients to centre ourselves firmly in the where and the now.

We're proud to be part of the food scene in London - to inspire and be inspired by the constant influx of ideas.
