Why Confidence Comes Before Employability
One thing we see again and again in communities is this:
confidence often comes before employability — not after it.
Before someone applies for a course, a job, or a training opportunity, they usually need to believe they belong there in the first place. That belief doesn’t come from a CV or a qualification. It comes from feeling safe, supported, and seen.
We’ve just published a new blog exploring why confidence is such a critical foundation for employability — and how community spaces, informal learning, and participation play a huge role in helping people take those first steps forward.
This isn’t about fixing people.
It’s about creating environments where confidence can grow naturally, through connection, contribution, and shared experience.
If you work in community development, employability, training, or early careers — or you simply care about fairer pathways into work — I’d love for you to have a read.
