🤍 Yara & Hevar’s Nikah 🤍

On 20.06.2026, I had the honour of catering one of the most special days of my life, my daughter Yara’s Nikah.

As both a mother and the owner of MunchMate Meals, this was far more than an event. Every detail was thoughtfully planned, every platter was prepared with love, and every element was designed to create a beautiful experience for our family and guests.

For Yara and Hevar’s special day, we created an elegant Sunnah-inspired grazing table featuring homemade samosas, chicken pies, chicken cheese balls, premium grazing selections and fresh seasonal fruits.

Guests were welcomed with our signature Mixed Berry Mojito and Blue Blossom Mojito, while personalised sweet bags added the perfect finishing touch for everyone to take home.

Most importantly, the day was filled with love, laughter, family and beautiful memories as Yara and Hevar began their new chapter together.

🌸 Yara’s Mehndi | Catered with Love by Mum 🌸

Some occasions are special. Others are deeply personal. Yara’s Mehndi was both. 💕

Yara’s Mehndi was filled with love, laughter, happy tears and so many special memories. As her mum, having the honour of catering such an important milestone made the day even more meaningful.

From the vibrant pink, orange and gold décor to the delicious food shared amongst family and friends, every detail reflected the joy and excitement of celebrating a beautiful new chapter.

What many people didn’t see was that I was still recovering from a recent medical procedure. There were days when I questioned whether I had the energy to pull it all together, but when it comes to your children, somehow you find the strength. Every platter, every garnish and every finishing touch was prepared with so much love.

Our menu included:

✨ Fresh Fruit Displays

✨ Refreshing Berry Mocktails
✨ Sweet Treats & Personalised Mehndi Favours

Whilst most of the catering was prepared by MunchMate Meals, a few side dishes were lovingly contributed by close family and friends. It made the celebration even more special and reminded us that the best events are created when everyone comes together.

Seeing our guests enjoying the food, sharing stories and making memories was worth every early morning and every late night.

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us and helped make Yara’s Mehndi such a beautiful day. 🌸

I did not disappear.
I paused.

Since mid December, MunchMate Meals has been quiet. On 14th January, I had a preventative mastectomy. Not because I have cancer, but to reduce future risk and protect my long term health.

The first clip was taken at Ward 34 on the day of surgery. The second shows recovery as it really looks. Medication, dressings, and slow days replacing normal routines. The third is quiet support. My budgie keeping me company while I heal.

Yesterday was Day 16. My PICO dressing & drains were removed. A small change on the outside, but a meaningful step forward. Recovery rarely announces itself loudly.

A mastectomy is the surgical removal of breast tissue. Choosing a preventative route is about acting early, making informed decisions, and prioritising long term wellbeing. These conversations are uncomfortable, which is exactly why they matter.

I miss cooking more than I expected. Food has always been how I care for people. I am hoping to return soon, back to making fresh homemade food for Leicester, with a deeper respect for nourishment, rest, and timing.

Before anything else, my gratitude belongs to my husband and our four incredible young adults. Your support has carried me through every single day of this recovery. I genuinely do not know how I would have done this without you.

And to everyone who has checked in, waited patiently, or shown kindness, thank you. This business has always been built on people. This pause confirmed that.

Some stories are not shared for attention.
