As part of my 20 years of DJing celebrations, I’d like to give a special shout-out to Kelseigh Walsh.
This was before the days of The Hansom Cab, when most of my work was private functions, birthday parties, weddings and events. Kelseigh worked alongside me and was an absolute star.
From unloading the car and setting up, to packing everything away and loading it back in at the end of the night, she was always willing to get stuck in. Anyone who has worked in the mobile DJ industry knows it’s not just about playing music – there’s a lot of hard work behind the scenes, and Kelseigh was a huge help.
One thing she was definitely better than me at back then was keeping up with the latest chart music! When it came time for the chart set, Kelseigh would often take over the decks, which gave me the perfect opportunity to grab us both a drink and get a few minutes of fresh air.
In fact, Kelseigh even DJed solo using my equipment on my 18th birthday, which shows just how much trust I had in her.
The funny thing is, Kelseigh only ended up working with me because the person who was originally meant to help out let me down. We were already friends from school, and when I mentioned I’d been left in the lurch, she simply said she’d help out. What started as a favour quickly became years of great memories and plenty of gigs together.
Although Kelseigh stopped working with me many years ago, she’s another person I hold very close to my heart. She was a massive part of those early years and helped me through a period when the business was really starting to grow.
These days she’s gone on to build a successful business of her own with Kelseigh Walsh Hair in Anstey, and it’s been brilliant to see her doing so well.
Thank you, Kelseigh, for all the laughs, the hard work, the chart music expertise, and for stepping in when I needed someone most. Looking back, some of my favourite memories from those early DJing days wouldn’t have been the same without you. ❤️🎧
