We're proud to be associated with The Ashes Register, an archive that records the location of ashes across the globe.

We were the first UK funeral director to log our uncollected ashes on The Ashes Register, as part of our mission to reunite these cremated remains with the right people.

The details of every uncollected remains we've held since 2000 are now available on The Ashes Register, in the hope that they will be easier to find.

Uncollected ashes have created challenges in the funeral industry for some time.

There are many reasons why cremated remains might go uncollected. Unique family circumstances, a lack of knowledge of due process, or perhaps even fear can all contribute to ashes being left with funeral directors.

We believe it's important that full transparency is maintained with regard to these unclaimed ashes.

We were the first UK funeral director to address the lack of formal regulation of uncollected ashes in our industry last year, appearing on ITV Central to discuss our involvement in The Ashes Register (check back later in the week for more on that).

As a fifth-generation family business that has been supporting the bereaved in the region for almost 120 years, we feel a deep sense of responsibility and duty of care to look after cremated remains in our possession - and also to do all we can to reunite them with the deceased's family.

✨ Funeral Etiquette: A Simple Gesture of Respect ✨

At Reflection Funeralcare, we believe that even the smallest gestures can speak volumes. One such tradition is taking a bow to the hearse—a mark of respect as a loved one begins their final journey.

Whether you’re a close family member, a friend, or a bystander, a simple bow or moment of stillness acknowledges the life lived and the grief of those left behind. It’s a timeless act of dignity, showing compassion and support for the family during one of life’s most difficult moments.

If you ever find yourself unsure of what to do at a funeral, remember: respect, kindness, and quiet reflection are always the right choices.

We’re here to guide and support you with care and professionalism. If you have any questions about funeral etiquette or arrangements, don’t hesitate to reach out.

It’s often the little things that leave the deepest impact. The gentle glisten of cars touched by the morning sunshine. The soft, comforting tweets of birds in the quiet. The carefully pressed suits and the warm, understanding faces that gather to offer support.

We understand that saying goodbye is one of life’s hardest moments, but it’s also a time to celebrate the beauty of a life well-lived. It’s about cherishing the details, the love shared, and the memories that will last forever.

Because sometimes, it’s the little things that truly matter 🕊️
