Week 236 on "Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal" was a momentous evening for a couple of reasons. One, there were more pull outs than a Catholic family planning centre, and then Russ only went and won his 100th quiz - not bad for a bloke who is "only good at looking at pictures". That's not just hiding your light under a bushel, that is digging a f***ing big hole, head straight for the Earth's core, and keep going till you bump into Thatcher in Hell, and THEN hide your bushel. The man is a genius. He must be! How else do you win so many quizzes? We went to Wales for the quiz this week, but we had to without Meatballs, Quizlamic State, Don't Expect Much, New Dog on the Block, Only One Brian, Ragnarok Ravers, and Damp Squib.

Week 235 of Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal? Oh, go on then. Due to a bit of a hectic schedule I didn't finish writing the quiz until about an hour before kick off. Seat of your pants stuff! We had a big turn out this week - those missing were Same as Last Week, Don't Expect Much, Quizlamic State (norks and beer in Germany, as you do), and naturally, the Ragnarok Ravers. It was a good contest - I ruined Old Yorkshire Gold's evening by getting their question right again (sorry!), and we lost Meatballs after the first three rounds as her battery packed up, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. We finished with a dead heat! Final scores were as follows: 1st= Damp Squib + New Dog on the Block 90.5 3rd Nutmeg and the Miaowists 83.5 4th That F-ing Drive 75.5 5th Dr Poorly 66 6th Only One Brian 62.5 7th Mr & Mrs Judas 61 8th Old Yorkshire Gold 60 9th Debz Doez Dubz 57.5 10th Meatballs 56 (had to leave after three rounds).

We had a late kick off tonight on "Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal" week 234. This was due to the King's Mrs have an appointment at the eye clinic in Southend, but they couldn't see her. (Ba-doom-tish!) Actually, they could, but were over-running by HOURS. So our quiz started at 8.30 instead of our usual 8pm. Some familiar faces were missing - That F-ing Drive had a touch of the thrupenny bits and was not with us, the Ragnarok Ravers (well, durrr!), Don't Expect Much, Damp Squib (she'd had a nasty fall, wishing her well), and Quizlamic State. It was a hard fought battle, Same as Last Week rushed into the lead with Only One Brian hot on his heels, but after I finally got one of Russ' questions right it looked odds on for a first win for Brian, but as he failed Dr Poorly came roaring up the strait, only then to be pipped at the post by Old Yorkshire Gold. An amazing finish.

Well here we were, its week 233 of Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal. Some missing regulars, not least the champ himself Same as Last Week who was full of snot, but apparently he had a cold as well. We were also missing Damp Squib, Debz Doez Dubz, Only One Brian, and some lot called the Ragnarok Ravers, but I don't actually think they exist. It was quite a battle throughout the evening and very close. And the Hell would have thought (a) Paul Weller played an unconscious Viking in Sherlock, and (b) Drake had achieved THAT many top ten singles in the UK charts. Name one of them. Go on. Take your time. In the end we had a DRAW, a dead heat between two fantastic teams. Plus we had Meatballs long distance, only not Rome this time, but Bamburgh in Northumberland.

We were missing a few teams this evening for Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal week 232, which was all about ghosties, ghoulies, and Yvette Fielding screaming into a night vision lens. We were without Ragnaro... is there any point listing them? Well, we were missing them, plus Damp Squib, Quizlamic State, Don't Expect Much, Meatballs, Only One Brian, and Mr and Mrs Judas. Dr Poorly came out of the blocks like a whippet on amphetamines, but faded like an asthmatic ant copying Sisyphus. Debz Doez Dubz had the best possible sausage sandwich game, and then offered to take me upstairs for the quiz next week. Steady on! Oh, and I got New Dog on the Block's Question right, and they were not happy. Same as Last Week, or Father Abraham as we now call him, roared to his 99th victory in the quiz. We knew it was number 99 as it was covered in hundreds and thousands, and had a flake stuck in the top. Well done.

An hilarious fantasy adventure about a gang of confidence tricksters, and a dragon!

What a splendid evening we had on week 231 of Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal. It was incredibly closely fought all the way through and ended on a photo finish. We were missing a few chums - The Ragnarok Ravers (natch), Quizlamic State, Debz Doez Dubz, New Dog on the Block, Don't Expect Much, and Nutmeg and the Miaowists. Meatballs were dialling in all the way from Rome, and was coming through clearer and louder than That F-ing Drive in Kent! It was neck and neck most of the way between Same as Last Week and Dr Poorly, but in the final round Damp Squib and Meatballs surged through and tied for first place by four clear points. Amazing stuff. And we won't even mention Hattie Jaques. And Only One Brian knows far too much about the homes of Deputy Prime Ministers than is probably good for him. It was Meatballs first win since week 124, and Damp Squib's first win since week 151!

Week 230 of Check Your Knollige with Good King Hal I hear you say? Well, yes indeed it occurred the same night that Harry Kane won his 100th cap for England, and we know which one the eyes of the nation were fixed on! Ahem. Anyway, we were missing the Ragnarok Ravers (natch), Damp Squib, Quizlamic State, Only One Brian, and the combined might of Old Yorkshire Gold and That F-ing Drive who were lying in a puddle of their own wee in a shop doorway in Prague. It was a great contest of shifting fortunes. Russ got his nose in front and it looked to all intents and purposes that that was it, but coming with a late run on the stand side rail was Sue and Ian in Wales and pipped Russ on the line by one point in a thrilling finish.
