The Feast and Tales group have been working to bring the Mari Lwyd Parade this Friday at The Masons Arms Shindig Event. The incredibly Talented Non will be creating our magical Mari Lwyd and a huge thanks to Lemon+Aid for their brilliant support and participation. If you'd like to join us on the parade which starts at 7.45pm from the Boot and Shoe, ending at The Masons Arms for 8pm, please message us on here.

🎄 CHRISTMAS SHINDIG AT THE MASONS ARMS, KIDWELLY 🎄✨

Come together with friends, neighbours, and the Kidwelly community at The Masons Arms, a beautiful three-hundred-year-old thatched pub, for a night of music, folklore, and festive celebration under one cosy roof.

🌮 Enjoy the sizzling aromas of El Gusto Grande’s legendary Mexican street food, and prepare for a very special guest from old Welsh traditions…

🐴 Y Mari Lwyd will appear with her procession of companions, singing, laughing, and carrying the ancient spark of midwinter mischief. This beautiful mid winter ritual, once a familiar sight in Welsh villages, sees the skeletal horse calling at the door, trading playful verses and blessings for the year ahead. By welcoming her once again, we help keep this cherished piece of Welsh folklore alive, honouring the spirits, respecting the stories and songs that shaped our lands.

🎼As Y Mari rests, the night erupts into full festive energy with The Troubadours. Loved by all who have seen them, these top-notch musicians deliver a lively, unforgettable set that keeps everyone going. Perfect! A big thank you to Music Factory Wales for sorting this ❤️

Come and be involved, this new group based in Kidwelly will be helping to create decor and crafts for the next Feast and Tales as well as other events in the town. We’ll be looking at sculptures, town decor, costumes. On Saturday we’ll start gathering ideas and a workshop for our lantern parade. Please do join us and let’s get this town full of colour life and creativity!

Crafting, painting, sculpting, or try something new, our space is for you. Drop in, join a workshop, or simply create whatever inspires you, this is your community, and we want you to express yourself in any way you like.

Children are welcome when accompanied by an adult.

⚔️ Medieval/fantasy style banquet → themed rave into the night
🕯️ Lantern workshops & glowing parade
🧵Costume Workshops leading up to the event
🎨 Art and festival decor workshops leading up to the event
🎭 Storytelling, street theatre, comedy & kids’ activities
🎶 Bands, DJs & music across town
🍴 Food and drink showcasing our venues and eateries

✨ Thank you for a fantastic Kidwelly Feast and Tales weekend✨

💛 A huge thank you to all our volunteers, you are truly valued. With a small team and a short time to prepare, your warmth, support and “all-in” spirit made it possible. Thanks to the many people who offered to help next year, it’s lovely and we’re already looking forward to more hands, more togetherness, and more time as we begin planning!

The entertainment was simply fantastic, with an eclectic mix of performers, from country, vintage and swing, to folk, rock, and a banging dance DJ set. 🎶 What made it extra special was the range of talent: we were lucky to have brilliant local performers, as well as artists who travelled from further afield, including all the way from Sussex. The variety and energy they brought truly lit up the town. ✨ They loved Kidwelly and all said they were coming back. Thank you to all of you.

But it wasn’t just the performers, it was also all the visitors and people who came along, bringing their warmth, energy, and vibe that also made the weekend shine. The town felt alive, buzzing with connection, laughter and shared moments. 🌟

We had some great story tellers and people dressed up to the theme which was fantastic!

Special thanks to:

🌿 The team at Lemon+Aid for creating a fantastic wellbeing and children’s area and for being the best support and encouragement. Thank you to the great food vendors, traders and crafters, our great venues, The Fisherman’s Arms Time For Tea The Boot and Shoe Masons Arms Kidwelly. Thank you Zirenz, Cat & Becs for bringing so many creative and different elements, and of course the Reimagine Choir and Reimagine Ukulele Choir.
