♻️ Food waste recycling ♻️

Next week Neighbourhood Warden Connor is on the road bringing the big green van to town to promote Bradford Council’s new food waste recycling scheme in our constituency.

On Thursday 2nd September he will be at the following:

Ilkley Town Hall from 9:45am till 11:45am
Haworth Railway Station from 1pm till 3pm

(Times are approximate and subject to traffic and parking at the Town Hall.)

DEADLINE 1st September for local artist bursaries

Following the success of the inaugural OUR TURN visual arts festival, South Square Centre is developing OUR TURN 2027 (funding dependent), a district-wide celebration of Bradford’s visual arts community.

In partnership with United Art Project and Keighley Creative, we are offering two paid artist development bursaries to support new community-led visual arts projects.

· For artists living, studying or working in Bradford District including Keighley
· £3,000 artist fee
· Project support from South Square and residency partners

Deadline for applications: 1 September 2026

Street art painting in Bracken Bank

This weekend local residents got together with some of our Neighbourhood team to brighten up the streets of Keighley. Volunteers added unique, colourful designs to the previously dull grey tarmac opposite the Bracken Arms. The mural is on the driveway to the St Michael’s Centre to help direct people to this newly developing community space.

The project gave the local community a chance to work together and chat with our Ward Officers. They talked about what the project brings and it started a conversation about what else might help generate pride in their home area.

Thanks so much to everyone who came along and joined in the fun.

🔥 A phoenix from the flames 🔥

Last summer, one of Keighley's treasured visitor attractions was nearly lost to fire along with 140 historic vehicles stored there. Luckily the building and vehicles were saved but there was extensive damage and it took a lot of time and money to get Keighley's Bus Museum open again.

But just over a year on, the Museum staged its first Open Day since the fire at its site on Riverside, off Dalton Lane.

There was so much to see including vintage cars, army trucks, motorbikes, fire engines and, of course, buses, There was also entertainment, live music and stalls and, blessed by some glorious weather, there was a great turn out with families and people of all ages and a good time was had by all!

Some of Keighley's Neighbourhood Ward Officers popped along to join in the fun and share in the pride that Keighley has for this wonderful facility.

So next time you fancy taking the children or any big kids on a day out, just pop along to Keighley Bus Museum!

Community Clean-up in Lawkholme

Last week wardens from the Neighbourhood team and local residents came out in force to spruce up the Lawkholme area of Keighley. Tidying, weeding and planting went on to add some greenery and freshen up the place.

The achievements of the team gave everyone a boost, helping instill a feeling of pride in the local community and started the conversation "What gives you Pride in Place?"

Did you meet us at the first Haworth Summer Fete this weekend?

Our team had a fabulous day on Saturday meeting lots of lovely folk and having conversations about Pride In Place. People joined us to get creative and and chat about their home and what makes them proud to live and work in Keighley.

Pride In Place Conversations have begun and will be continuing around the district this summer and ongoing. To have your say, pop along to one of the many community events we will be attending.
