✨ I Did It! 🎂🏆
On the 31st of October, I took part in the cake competition at Cake International in Birmingham — and what a journey it was!
I originally had a completely different design planned, but it didn’t work out. I almost gave up and packed everything away. But something in me said, try again. So just two weeks before the competition, I started all over — while working Monday to Friday — which meant I only had two weekends and after work to create this piece.
With the support of my husband, we travelled over 2.5 hours (122 miles) to Birmingham to present my cake. And just before entering the exhibition room… I dropped the cake. 💔
My heart sank. But I stayed calm, collected myself, picked up the pieces (literally!), and still placed it on the competition table — with no expectation of even a single mark.
✨ And guess what? I was awarded a Merit with 69 marks! ✨Just one more mark would have been Bronze!
I am over the moon and so proud of myself for not giving up. This experience reminded me that determination is more powerful than perfection. 💪
