Sorry for the lack of posts, I've been busy with dried flower wedding orders and generally distracted with flowers but I don't think I will ever tire of them. Thank you to the lovely people that have chosen me with the most important day of their lives. It is really appreciated and I love every minute of the process. In other news I will be putting my mind to our gathering this autumn and we have a lovely full house of your favourite exhibitors and I can't wait to introduce them shortly. I would also love to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone that has purchased from my happy Place. Yesterday felt as though Christmas had arrived early. One of our posh Botanical candles is heading to Utah and I can't remember what is heading to Australia and Africa, it all seems a blur now, but what a day. Every penny helps to pay my bills and support my daughter through Uni. Thank you so much xx
Wishing you a peaceful evening and hoping to open more days in the run up to the festive season.

A lovely surprise snippet of Howden. My daughter sent me this little video of the town otherwise I would be still oblivious to this lovely mention. Thank you so much to the gorgeous small business for your support for the loveliest little town in East Yorkshire

We have just received a delivery of another batch of what has become your favourite tealight collection. These plant-based beauties smell lovely as well as being packaged beautifully. The perfect gift. I've always loved nature, especially hares and birds so these absolutely fit with the ethos of my happy place. I've become a little too obsessed with tealights but thankfully all in a good way. We are trialling some other brands very soon so you will be spoilt for choice and I will find peace at last with tealights.
I've just poured myself a big cup of ambition, my go to song when times feel tough (the world is definitely duller without Dolly) and I'm feeling unstoppable and hopefully this will help me get through the busiest season ahead.
I hope the power is back on in Howden today. Thank you to everyone that shopped in the dark yesterday and kept me company after much of the town shut down. Power or no power, you will see me later today in my happy place with Happy Dolly vibes, probably with a big jumper and a flask of hot tea as it is a little nippy.

Summer is moving on and we are turning our attention to preparing for our Autumn Collection. The weathered horse, which lives on my landing, came from Worcester-based Emily Grace Vintage and the beautiful antique mannequin from Norfolk-based Wayward Rose is put to work in my Happy Place, often wearing a wreath. Two beautiful businesses offering exquisite original French & English decorative antiques that travel especially to be with us in Yorkshire. This is what makes our gatherings so special, bringing lovely folk from all corners of the UK to be with us. Stock is always fresh to the market and always irresistible. My pennies are being saved.

A little bit nippy in my happy place yesterday. Luckily I had a big jumper in the back.
I'm so thankful for the rain and the foliage is getting a little more lush everywhere and I have enjoyed a little break from my watering can duties. We have introduced some lovely thoughtful books, with lots of gorgeous images. A perfect little gift for those that love simple pleasures and slow living.

Our special little candles are in another league, making the most beautiful and thoughtful gift for those you love and adore and especially for those that already have everything, you know the ones that are so difficult to buy for. The little Georgian sauce boat is a recent find, along with the shabby Edwardian wooden glove box, bought from one of our exhibitors, Su who will be joining us this October. The oil painting, which really made my heart skip a beat at our Spring gathering. It was sourced by Jodie, who also has the eye for beautiful old interior pieces. I can't wait to see what both have in store for us this Autumn. It will be the one not to miss as we are all working our little socks off to source irresistible pieces..... and then somehow manage to let them find new homes.

Details for the last two gatherings of the year. Booking for our little festive number will open late September as the festive season is the busiest and I'm sure there will be lots of events on the same date so early confirmation will be required.

Shades of autumn this morning. People often ask if I sell online, sadly not due to prohibitive fees and the amount of time taken, styling, photographing (the bit that I really enjoy) to the describing every fault, dimension and then the packaging. Customising a box to fit a watering can or some other object often took over an hour. Then an anxious wait to see if the item had been delivered safely as we don't have the most reliable system. There were lots of pros however, I was blessed with the loveliest of customers, even Ben Fogle bought some of my old terracotta pots and many of my dried stems were used in photoshoots for a well known fabric design house. Part of me misses bringing my style to different parts of the country, props that were used in TV shows and lots of beautiful treasures went to gorgeous new homes. If there is a realistic platform out there for antiques then give me a shout.

These two, lost in each others eyes forever. I rescue the unloved, the ancient, the tattered and torn, the old soft toys, especially bunnies and often the Victorian taxidermy. This pair were rescued from a battered case, destined for the bin. Newspaper that was used to create papier-mâché structures to mount the birds, dating to 1883 was found in the case, so they have been together a rather long time and here's to many more years.

In other news I've been creating and treasure hunting this last week and there is a hint of a nip in the air that summer is moving on and thank goodness. I am so looking forward to autumn hues, candle light evenings and our special gathering with like-minded souls that love to source the weatherd and worn.

Nothing beats walking through dried leaves with your bestie. I love that crunching sound but I don't like rock-hard ground in summer. I hope the rain will arrive soon. I hate seeing everything so parched and the impact it is having on our wildlife. We are doing our little bit with our neighbours to feed and water the many visitors that we welcome. My bird feeders are filled regularly as we have all kinds of hungry finches and the water bowls are also well used.
