Two fingers up to the wedding rulebook || 👋 📕

I'm not sure where these wedding rules come from and frankly I'm not bothered. Wherever they originate from (and I'm sure it's some archaic, misogyny filled book), they really don't have a place or limited application in modern weddings.

Including a wedding tradition for tradition sake is just not enough! Where is the meaning? Where does it fit into your love story? Where does it resonate with your day? If the answer is you don't know, then I challenge you to reconsider including it.

Who said you have to exchange vows? Who decided that you had to be given away by your father? Who decided that formal vows were the only way to express you commitment on your wedding day?

I encourage all nearly weds planning their dream wedding day to always consider if what they are including has meaning. Traditions can be reimagined or you can make your own wedding traditions.

You are planning your wedding day for you and you alone. Throw that wedding rule book out of the window and keep your light shining on your wedding day!

Since when did everyone else get a say in your wedding day?

Stop! Don't let your wedding turn into a community event or group project - remember the day is yours, and yours alone. You didn't sign up for a 15-person committee to decide whether to have a ring bearer or not.

When did we stop listening to ourselves on our most important day? It's time to take that power back! Your wedding should narrate the story of your love, not fulfill someone else’s fantasies.

When did it become okay for everyone else to have a say in YOUR wedding? This day is meant to celebrate your love, not to appease every opinion floated your way. Speak up, claim your vision, and make sure your day is authentically!

If you are looking to include some super unique ideas in your wedding ceremony, this is definitely one to consider.

Why it works as a unique ceremony idea:

⚡️It's a completely personalised part of your wedding ceremony - you've swapped a traditional reading for lyrics that really resonate with your love story

⚡️It will become a really memorable part of the storytelling that your celebrant delivers

⚡️Your guests won't necessarily expect to hear song lyrics read out in the place of a traditional reading - keeping engagement high!

How to have a more eco conscious wedding ceremony || 🌎

Given everything going on in the world, it seemed the right time to have a post focusing on how to have a more eco conscious wedding ceremony.

And there's actually so much you can do and most are quite easy to achieve. From drying petals for your wedding confetti to including an environmentally focused ceremony ritual, you can do a little bit to care for the planet without compromising on your day.

I've worked with newly weds who have extended this further and had sustainability as a massive focus for their day with locally sourced ingredients for their wedding breakfast, plates and glassware from charity shops and plantable stationery.
