The popularity of face painting can be traced back thousands of years ago with its use in ceremonies, rituals and celebrations in ancient civilizations.
Tribes such as the indigenous people of Australia, America and Africa used natural pigments such as plant dyes, ochre, clay, chalk, charcoal and squashed insects for their spiritual and cultural practices.
The symbolism of pictures, designs and colours varied represented everything from tribal identity, status, protection and religious beliefs.
It explains why people still want to adorn themselves permanently with tatoos, or temporarily with face paints. The great thing about face paints is they wash off so you can change what you want for any occasion, and of course, children can enjoy 'being' anything they imagine and go on to role play their character.
Don't forget I'm taking bookings for Christmas and New Year Parties. . . .
