Asked the question on FB as to what equipment the fellow DJs were using as I needed to get new carts/styli because my ancient Ortofon Q-Berts don’t appear to be contacting properly anymore… ANYWAY lots of responses on it but then thought I’d check the depths of the loft for a quick looksee for a spare cart. Turns out there was a few bits 🤣😅… pimped HD25s headphones and my original ACS custom ear plugs amongst it all. There was a pair of Vestax PDX 2300ii decks floating about in there too 🫣💀 I remember buying Shure 447 styli on carded strips for about £10-12 or so back in 98/2000s. Used to sell them from Sure-Shots website ex vat for £18 from Guernsey. Now the Jico equivalent are about 5 times that.

Sifting for all time faves for this (Good) Friday’s Get Down episode. Not bought or found many funky things in a long time (need to go shopping rather than just sell barrow loads!) so hitting a few bag staples. Its been 5 months since DJing too so it’s gonna sound fresh again to me 😆🔊. The homie and el residente DJ Dek One is an ardent vinyl buyer/digger so I can’t wait to just wind him up and unleash him on the decks! He’s like the Funk n soul Duracell 🪫 DJ bunny! It is Easter after all. 🫠There will be muchos funkiness in many guises, with sprinkles of rare soul, deep grooves, psychy funkyfuzz, afro, latin, library, jazz and whatever else. In other news I’m continuing my side quest of digging out/seeking approx 1989-92 associated bleeps/break beats. There must have been a relatively small window of time with the sped up breakbeats that also weren’t mad ‘ravey’, prior to or maybe even during hardcore? Kinda Proto hardcore I guess but deffo not in the house or hiphouse territory. 🫠 If you have suggestions please feel free to DM me links! 😍💫 Think Renegade Soundwave, Boneshakers, SUAD etc. Got my Blapps out tonight and the wants list is firing heavy. 🎶Dreams of riding a titanium b**ch🎶 Not sure that was the words that Biggie used but hey bike geeks…..its NEW BIKE DAY! 😍 It’s taken a long time to get life in order since leaving the home land 🇬🇬 🏝️ and moving to UK and nearly 4 years since I’ve made a single pedal stroke on that basis 🫣🤯. July 2022 I left - wtf!!
I’ve always wanted a titanium steed and after months and months of research (and saving!) the Sonder Camino ti was the chosen one! Its taken nearly a year to put together but we made it! Faro aerogravl bar, Dt swiss Handbuilt wheels for chubbers loaded with Hope hubs and Schwalbe g-one rs tyres, 2x shimano GRX, Redshift flex stem, Brooks c17 (will be brown). Pretty stoked with it and interesting to see where the paths will take me! The dream is of course to do the length of Britain. Lands end to John o groats 😬🇬🇧 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🚴 MASSIVE shouts to for my patience testing ‘consultation’ 😅 and initial put together and to the further skills of Eastbourne based for finishing this baby off. A few more bits to get but can’t wait to get rolling again.
