Last year we received 220 visitors to the Hobbies Exhibition. Our challenge this year is to welcome 400+ visitors to the The Courtyard. Please come along this Saturday to find out how to find a new hobby, volunteer with a local community group or to have a natter with us and our guests. The event is free to attend.

Our first two hundred visitors will receive a free gift!

We're incredibly proud of this moving and inspiring short film about Goole, which was commissioned by East Riding of Yorkshire Council as part of the programme of events and activities planned to mark our town’s 200th birthday year. ☺️

Titled Ex Nihilo, it was funded using Arts Council England and UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) grants secured by the council.

Produced by Ryan Madin, Programme Co-ordinator for Goole 2026, it features spoken word poetry written and performed by Joe Hodgson, who is well known locally as the lead singer and songwriter of the hugely popular Goole band Sandra's Wedding.

Filmed by Katie Harriman of Fly Girl Films, who also lives and works locally, it features music composed by The Broken Orchestra, a creative music collective founded in Hull.

Ryan Madin describes Ex Nihilo as a 'love letter to Goole', adding: "We wanted to produce something that would give people a sense of pride about where they’re from and focus on the many positives in Goole’s past, present and future."
