British Burger Awards

It appears this is another promotional awards event organised by Oceanic Creative, without an independent judging panel or verified evaluation process. Businesses should exercise caution when considering participation or purchasing tables, as nominations do not appear to be based on genuine customer submissions and the event has only recently been created.

Businesses that are closed still somehow get nominated. If this does not ring alarm bells then what will?

Not my usual post and not something I enjoy writing, but I feel it’s absolutely necessary… PLEASE READ, SHARE and TAG friends or businesses who may have been affected.

Tonight I featured on ITV News Wales to expose what has been happening with Creative Oceanic / Oceanic Creative / National Campaigns Ltd and their so-called “award ceremonies.”

My Experience:
I paid £96 to attend an awards event that never took place.

Just two days before the scheduled date, I received an email saying it was being “postponed.”

No new date, no proper communication, and no refund despite repeated requests. The company finally revealed there would be no such physical ceremony; they ignore all communications and delete any comments on their pages from frustrated victims and block them from their pages.

I have since found countless other businesses and individuals with the same experience – some losing hundreds of pounds.

This isn’t an isolated incident. Oceanic Creative run around 120 events across 20 cities in the UK, covering everything from beauty to restaurants, retail, and more. The pattern is the same: people are charged large amounts of money for tickets, tables, and promotion, only for the events to be cancelled, postponed, or vanish entirely.

I don’t post things like this lightly, but too many people are being scammed, and businesses are losing hard-earned money in an already difficult climate.

If you’ve been contacted by any of these “award” organisers, please do your research first. Check Companies House, search online, or join our Facebook group to connect with others.

‼️ These are not legitimate awards. They are preying on hardworking businesses.

Please SHARE this post to help protect others.

Past participants—particularly in awards like the Welsh Hair and Beauty Awards, English Curry Awards and Scottish Curry Awards —reported that the nomination and voting were communicated only after they were listed as finalists. This led to suspicions that finalist selection is influenced more by potential ticket revenue than merit.

Although organizers state they conduct checks, critics have pointed to instances where non-operational or permanently closed businesses were still shortlisted, calling the rigor of these checks into question. Restaurants and takeaways with a poor hygiene rating have previously won Awards.

Hundreds of whistleblowers and ex staff reports suggest there is an emphasis on how many tickets a nominee’s supporters purchase—rather than their actual achievements.

Lavang won the ‘Curry Restaurant of the Year’ at the English Curry Awards last night.

Oceanic Awards” run by Creative Oceanic (aka Oceanic Group) have all the hallmarks of a vanity award scam:

What’s Really Going On?

Cash-for-ceremony model: Event organisers nominate hundreds of businesses (often through mass email blasts, with little to no real selection criteria). The real goal? Getting finalists to buy tickets—which are usually £75+ per guest—to attend a “glitzy” ceremony. Participants often feel they had little choice but to pay .

Widespread complaints: Attendees and vendors report venues being postponed, cancelled, or mishandled—and refunds rarely processed properly. Many have complained about disorganisation and broken promises ().

Employee warnings: Multiple former staff from Creative Oceanic warn the company is “a complete scam,” with staff not getting paid, judging being fake, and winners determined by who buys the most tickets .

Legal trouble: Some of the underlying companies have been wound up for insolvency, and there are ongoing controversies over transparency and accountability of their operations .

Irfan Younis the Director has been linked to many dissolved “Oceanic” companies—such as Creative Oceanic Ltd, Oceanic Recruitment Ltd, Oceanic Properties Investment Ltd, and others—raising questions about the stability and transparency of operations. One of the active entities tied to the business—National Campaigns Limited—was placed into liquidation in June 2024, with net liabilities of nearly £350,000.
