Nottingham Goose Fair is OPEN !!!!
We are officially OPEN at Nottingham Goose Fair!
🎠🎠🎠
Our historic Gallopers are here, our full team is in place, and after all the hard work and expense of getting here, we are ready to welcome everyone.
But with the proposed tram strikes starting tomorrow, we are genuinely worried about the financial impact on our small family business.
Attending Goose Fair is a huge financial commitment. The costs of transporting the Gallopers, fuel, staff, preparation, insurance, set-up and the rent paid to the council are all incurred before we even open. Like many travelling showmen, we rely on the income we make during these few days to cover those costs and provide for our families.
We sincerely hope that the union’s plans change at the 11th hour, allowing the trams to continue running throughout Goose Fair.
It is such a shame that industrial action is being planned while Goose Fair is open, when the knock-on effect will be felt directly by the travelling showmen whose livelihoods depend on the public being able to reach the event.
For small family businesses like ours, a reduction in visitors can make a very significant difference to our income, after the considerable expense of bringing our rides to Nottingham.
We really hope common ground can be found, the trams can run as normal, and everyone can enjoy Goose Fair and support the many family businesses who have invested so much to be here.
We are also very thankful to Nottingham City Transport for putting extra buses on to help the public get to the Goose Fair site during the disruption. This support is hugely appreciated by all of us here. 🚌😃
🎠 We are open and ready to welcome you. Please come down and support the travelling showmen, who are all individual small businesses.
