, soul and disco, a little northern soul, and the best of the latest releases - mostly original versions, alongside a few choice remixes... generally the feel-good stuff he knows gets people on the dance floor and keeps them there. Many of the disco/funk tracks are 'beat-mixed', keeping the pace going - something few funk DJ's do. He’s no new-comer, having played at venues big and small since the early '80's, for all sorts of public and private occasions such as family celebrations, corporate events and festivals, alongside live acts and other DJ's. Devon Funk & Soul Club can be hired for any occasion, day or night, private or corporate, and for any duration. We can also supply you with a sound system, lighting and video projection of the right size and type for your venue/event. What lovely crowds we had last Sunday, all day, at the Mermaid in Exeter, for our Bank Holiday SPRING AFFAIR vinyl all-dayer! So many varied dance music styles covered by 6 excellent DJs (and me) thru the day, playing tunes from the '50s to now. I spun a bunch of funky classics in the afternoon and evening, and then some slamming disco beauties for my late night final set. Thanks to those who came, danced, sang, and had fun 💥🕺💃💖

💜 It's been 10 years since we lost Prince Rogers Nelson (April 21, 2016, age 57). I was never a huge fan, a bit too pretentious for me, although he recorded some great records. Among my faves are Sign O'The Times, I Would Die 4 U, Cream, Gett Off, Let's Go Crazy, If I Was Your Girlfriend, 1999, and this one - When Doves Cry.

James Brown was a huge inspiration for him, his raucous soul style and tight, funky grooves never far from the Prince sound.

Little-known fact: throughout his later years, he suffered from significant hip pain, often attributed to decades of performing in high heels. He was frequently seen with a walking cane, which became a fashion accessory, reportedly refusing hip-replacement surgery 💜
