What an fantastic evening at Strings Bar & Venue - Isle Of Wight. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as your host? All our regular teams are consistently posting impressive scores now each week, which makes for a competitive (but friendly) competition, and it's true to say that the scores in the bottom half of last night's leaderboard would have been enough to win the quiz 6 months ago (the winning score at the last quiz of 2025 was 466!). All that aside, it was a second win in 4 for 'Jess Glynne & Co.'🥇 who correctly answered 75% of the questions (that may be a record!). Second placed 'The Fellowship of the Quiz'🥈 & third place 'We Can See Clearly Now'🥉 only had 4 points between them 💪

The 'Arctic Road Monkeys'🥇 & 'Dave's Darlings'🥈 were neck & neck with just a point between them after a strong multitap round for the former. Either team could have snatched the win on the final question, but it was 'Team B'🥉 who top scored with their answer on how many sheets of A4 would cover the floor of Westminster Abbey'. Thanks everyone for playing the last 10 months. Have a fab summer - we will return in September.

Coming down to the final question, the top two had just 4 points between them, and were clear of the rest of the field. 'The Max Foundation'🥇 were marginally closer than 'Jess Glynne & Co'🥈 when estimating how many episodes of Top of the Pops + Desert Island Discs were made in total. The closest answer to that question were third placed 'Who Knows?'🥉 with an answer of 300 episodes out!

It's always amazing when some first-timers win the smartphone quiz! That happened last night at The Prince of Wales monthly smartphone quiz. 'Brookfield Bandits'🥇 took to SpeedQuizzing like ducks to water and actually managed to have it in the bag before the final 30-pointer. 'Level headed'🥈 were the best of the rest and took second for the second quiz running. 'Dave's Darlings'🥉 were in last place at the end of round 4, but had a very good Film & TV round to pull themselves up to second, before being overtaken by Level Headed in the final question.

Back at Strings this week with a bumper 100 questions on everything from 'Wacky Races' to Europe's 'Velvet Divorce', from 'Rear of the Year' to 'Lou Gehrig Disease', with a touch of 'Spot the Ball' and, naturally, plenty of music questions. After 99 questions, it was a three way battle for the win with just 5 points separating the top 3 teams. The question for 30 points was What was the combined ages of the Rolling Stones when they released the album 'Beggars Banquet' (1968) - 'We Can See Clearly Now'🥇 were remarkably spot-on with their answer, with runners-up, 'Jess Glynne & Co'🥈, third closest & 33 years out. In third was 'The Man The Gruffalo'🥉 with another strong performance.

'Touch The Frog' pushed 'Dave's Darlings' all the way to the final question but just fell short in the end. The quiz could be played out front on the garden benches, which was just as well as It was a scorcher of an evening and the The Woodvale team worked their socks off. Back again in two weeks.....
