Had an absolute BLAST last night. A big thank-you for all those who came and had a sing-along (and dance) to the playlists I made. There's no traditional leaderboard for bingo, & I'm struggling to remember all 9 of the prize winners, but I know 'Wildcats', 'Big Bad Booths', 'GB Barry', 'A Beggar on a Beach of Gold' & 'Fleetwood Mac & Cheese' were among the winners

August has been a funny month one way or another, but 'The Lone Ranger'🥇, with support from Tontos (& a Silver), has shown amazing consistency, becoming the first (as far as I can remember) team to win three consecutive Strings Bar & Venue - Isle Of Wight quizzes (the second two with scrambled keypads of course!). They were well clear of 'Who Knows?'🥈in second even before picking up the 30-pointer (yes, the answer was actually 42!). 'Murder on Zidane's Floor'🥉had their best result in some time, coming third, with a mention also for 'The Gruffalone', playing on his own but still coming 4th & ensuring his team kept the runners-up position for the month. Tonto might have missed out on the Mastermind engraved bowl, but 'The Lone Ranger & Tonto'🏆win the August Trophy & Strings gig tickets with space to breath! With 'The Boshers & co.'💸randomly chosen to win 50% of their next bar bill & 'Murder on the Zidane's Floor' getting a bottle of🍾, every team present this evening has won something over the course of the month! (except the Bar Staff.....😆).

(Just like waiting for a bus) You don't win a Strings Bar & Venue - Isle Of Wight quiz for a year, and then you get two in a row! Winning on the final question means two wins in three appearances for 'The Lone Ranger'🥇 (this time with a Tonto & a Silver) & means they are in a strong position going into the final quiz of the month for the head trophy & gig tickets, with only 'The Man The Gruffalo' able to force a playoff if they win the final quiz next week. 'Jess Glynne & Co.'🥈 have come runner's up in both of their appearances this month with 'Who Knows?'🥉 coming third, and were randomly chosen as the recipients of the consolation prize this week.

Lots of teams of 5 or 6 players for this week's PoW Quiz, with one of them, 'Sandy Demons'🥇, returning to take victory. In fact, it was only second placed 'Level Headed'🥈 (with just 2 members) that had a team less than 5 in the top 5! With a nice cash pot generated, the top two shared £60 with 'Quizzly Bears'🥉 enjoying a bottle of 🍾 for their third place finish. 'Jap's Eye' had a go at Play Your Cards Right 🃏for the £70 jackpot, but didn't get off the bottom row and so settle for a fiver.

Tuesday's Strings Bar & Venue - Isle Of Wight quiz night passed with no major incidents to report. Although the teams were a bit silly & there was some mild abuse aimed at the host, nothing out of the ordinary caused an early end to the evening or for the police to be called. This was a strictly alcohol only night however, and there were one or two players who decided it would be clever to drink "Coke Zero" with such excuses as "I'm driving" or "I've an early start" given when challenged by concerned members of the public. The only other incident of note was a win for 'The Lone Ranger & Tonto'🥇, their first for about a year at this venue apparently!

First blood in August goes to 'The Man The Gruffalo'🥇, who only had 'We Can See Clearly Now'🥈in a position to overtake them - but then they secured the 30 points on the final question🎯in anycase. Just 30 points back again were 'Who Knows'🥉.This month, in the interest of inclusivity and to reward our loyal participants, a random team will get a spin of the prize wheel & tonight, the consolation prize went to 'The Max Foundation'. And finally, getting a bottle of fizz for their birthday girl were the newbies from north of the border 'Team Sexy'🍾- come and play again next time you're visiting!?
