Another wonderful service remembering Tom - what a character! We really felt the love for him in the room today, with incredible tributes from his children and friends and a photo slideshow of all his highlights. We finished with a farewell and toast on the terrace by the river in glorious sunshine, before heading inside for sumptuous lunch. A perfect celebration.

Where do I start? What a beautiful family celebrating Sheila’s life: a much-loved Wife, Mum, Grandma and friend to so many.

It started with a relaxed drink overlooking the river and ended the same way, toasting a wonderful and special life on the terrace.

The room was ‘dressed’ to perfection, with small but significant touches, flowers, photographs, memory notes, and items made by Sheila herself.

A ‘celebration of life’ means an uplifting service, with respect, dignity, laughter, many happy memories and of course a few tears. The family achieved all this, and included all the usual elements of a service: music, a hymn, prayers, and a photograph slideshow.

The champagne toast was a wonderful final touch, before leading into a tranquil and spacious reception accompanied by a live pianist.

I left you a little white feather
I placed it right there in your way
I wrapped it in love with a message
to let you know you'll be okay.

I drew you a colourful rainbow
It followed your car for a while
I made it a beautiful rainbow
I hoped it would show me your smile.

I flew down a beautiful robin
It landed right there on your ledge
I prayed he would give you the strength
to push yourself back from the edge.

I try every day to remind you
that I never did go away
the feathers, the rainbows, the robins
are my way of trying to stay.
