💍✨ Why I Absolutely Love Micro Weddings… ✨💍

There’s something really special about a smaller, more intimate wedding — and honestly, they’ve become some of my favourite days to photograph.

Especially around The Heatons, Stockport and Manchester, where you’ve got the perfect mix of character, charm and beautiful backdrops.

With micro weddings, everything feels more relaxed. We get time.
Time to wander, chat, and create those really natural, meaningful couple portraits — not rushed, not staged, just you two being you.

I get to properly know my couples, understand your story, and capture those quiet, in-between moments that often end up being the most special ones.

🌿📸 Looking for some lovely local families… 📸🌿

Hi everyone! I’m a local photographer based here in the area and I’m looking for a few families who might like some natural, relaxed outdoor photos over the next few weeks 🌿✨

Why a pre-wedding shoot is such a good idea 🤍

“We don’t need an event photographer… someone will take photos.”

I hear this a lot when businesses are planning events.

And on the surface, it makes sense. Everyone has a smartphone, cameras are better than ever, and it feels like someone can probably grab a few shots.

But in reality, that is rarely what happens.

The event starts, people are networking, speeches begin, and the room fills with energy. Suddenly, no one is actually taking photos. Or the person who is taking them is also trying to host, organise guests, or run the event at the same time.

Because I’ve spent years both photographing and organising events, I’m always watching the flow of the room. Sometimes that means stepping in to help coordinate a quick group photo, encouraging people to throw on some Australian outfits, guiding people into better light, or running outside to capture the queue of people waiting to come in.

And sometimes it simply means being in exactly the right place when a moment unfolds.

By the end of the event, the business doesn’t just have a handful of random photos. They have a visual record of the energy, the connections and the success of the day — images they can use for marketing, social media, future event promotion, PR and press coverage.

Most importantly, they have images that actually show what the event felt like.

Because a great event deserves to be remembered properly.

Helen & Caitlin’s beautiful micro wedding in Stockport 🤍

Their day began at the stunning Stockport Town Hall, where the beautiful architecture made the perfect backdrop for such an intimate ceremony. With just two witnesses — Helen’s mum and Caitlin’s best friend — the whole day felt so personal, relaxed and full of love.

After the ceremony, we wandered through Stockport town centre and the Underbank, stopping for portraits of the two of them and some lovely moments with their tiny wedding party. I always love photographing in Stockport — the mix of historic streets, character buildings and hidden corners makes it such a brilliant setting for natural wedding photos.

We then headed back to Helen and Caitlin’s home in Heaton Chapel, where Caviar and Custard Catering had created the most beautifully styled table with personal touches and canapés ready for the celebration. After some heartfelt speeches, I left them to enjoy an incredible meal with their closest people.

It was such a joy to photograph this special day, and such a lovely reminder that a micro wedding can be every bit as meaningful, emotional and beautiful as a bigger celebration.
