Want to know more about out Dingwall in 1975? Or what about the Davidsons of Tulloch Castle? Who was the Fairburn man accused of murder in Wyoming? What caused riots in 1847 in Dingwall?

Yet another blog has been added to our website's Explore page. This time it's a description of Dingwall in 1975 - obviously quite a special year - by Forbes Munro, a Museum Member. The Corries came that year, for example! Remember them? This is the link to the page: https://www.dingwallmuseum.com/explore

Over £40,000 raised for more than 70 charities at the Dingwall & Highland Marts Limited Dingwall 800 Charity Auction earlier this month - amazing! A huge well done to everyone involved and thank you to all the bidders! 👏

What a day for Dingwall 800!

A massive thank you to everyone who attended today’s Grand Dingwall 800 Auction and to all those who supported us by bidding online. Your generosity and support have been incredible.

A sincere thank you to everyone who kindly donated lots for the sale — the quality and variety on offer was outstanding.

Special thanks to Newline for generously providing the auction software free of charge, and to our good friend Daniel Gardner, Highland Technical for expertly managing the online bidding throughout the day.

Thank you also to all the mart staff who gave up their time and worked tirelessly over the past few weeks to pull everything together. The amount of effort behind the scenes has been immense.

With a few remaining items still to be sold at our upcoming implement and furniture sales, we are delighted to announce a current running total of

⭐️ £40,492 ⭐️

An outstanding effort by everyone involved and a tremendous boost for the charities and community causes supported through Dingwall 800.

Happy Monday everyone! This morning, we have a photograph dated August 1914, at the very beginning of the First World War. It shows the 4th Seaforth Highlanders, our area's local battalion, setting off for training down south in England, to then eventually head over the channel to the Western Front. Have you ever seen Dingwall train station this busy?

Wow! Isn’t Dingwall beautiful?!

Huge thanks to Charlotte Mackenzie from Arts in Nature for leading these sessions.

If you missed out yesterday, be sure to sign up for next month’s session on 11 June where you are invited to use riverbank clay to shape small sculptures; these could reflect water patterns, wildlife, or personal stories. Use grasses, reeds, or found natural fibres to weave small pieces that reflect the flow and interconnection of the waterways, and create temporary sculptures or mandalas using stones, driftwood, shells, or leaves.
