You don’t see my shot much on my page because why would you need to when there’s so many beautiful flowers 🌺 But I wanted to take the opportunity to discuss wedding pricing following Georgina Toffolos out burst on wedding flowers. Firstly for those who know me you’ll know I love toff, with her race day fashion and effortless style but the “wedding day flowers are over priced and over rated” comment can now give me a voice to how I brake down my pricing for your day. Iv had a trickier season this year with many “I can do it cheaper myself comments” which yes I’m sure you can, as supermarkets mass produce, in pesticides and chemicals.
But what are you paying for in that bridal bouquet?..
Firstly my time. My time in meeting with you, using my experience and expertise to design your flowers to fit your dress, and style. My time to carefully choose the correct flowers, check them, condition them, and style them, then store them and deliver them to you.
The flowers, as you all know by now I grow my flowers where possible, this takes seeds, soil, months of growing, watering, nourishing, cutting and conditioning. If I have to import flowers let’s remember they’ll be out of season resulting in around £5 per stem of flower. Also considering weather conditions (such as now with the dry spell) my flowers are now a month behind resulting in me spending more and getting a lot less return.
Other expenses to consider, my many insurances, home studio, travel time back and forth the venue moving florals and tending to their new positions in your day, being constantly on the other end of the phone as little questions arise.
So in a world of toffs who has a huge platform, and income, be more considerate and mindful of what goes into this. I love what I do, and when celebrities make these brash comments we as a result can look bad, and loose trade. It’s a hard industry to be in and one iv struggled with at times, nether the less one I’m also immensely proud to be in with my little Devon flower business. Thank you for reading x
