Before the gigs, there was a kid and two cassette players. 📻

“I used to DJ on cassette between two tapes and make my own radio shows.”

He has been behind the decks since 1994. This Friday, Champa headlines Holy Pendragon.

One night in Poland, Sabretooth was given a two-hour set. It was the night the clocks went back, so two hours became three. The crowd still wanted more, and he kept playing.

That night in Wrocław is one of the stories in The Chain Reaction, our conversation with Sabretooth about finding his own sound and the feeling he keeps chasing on the dancefloor.

Around 1997, Aurel walked into a psytrance party by accident and thought the music was a bit weird.

He went to another one with his mate. That time, he fell in love.

One of his first big nights came in 1998. His hands shook over the vinyl until he hit “the right track for the moment” and watched everyone start to dance.

He still reads a room the same way: play a few tracks, see which ones work, then follow that atmosphere.

The music in this video is “Vibe”, his collaboration with Inner Zen.
