🎩 Magic Lecture Recap - Andrew Normansell! ✨

What a fantastic night at the DMC as we welcomed Andrew Normansell for an outstanding lecture packed with practical magic, clever thinking and plenty of laughs!

Andrew shared a wealth of material that members could genuinely take away and perform. The focus wasn't just on tricks, but also the thinking behind them, covering everything from body language and audience management to the small details that can elevate a routine from good to great.

Throughout the evening, Andrew demonstrated how simple methods can create incredibly strong reactions when combined with the right presentation and structure. Members learnt a variety of tricks, moves and routines, along with creative ways to apply principles and methods to develop their own performances.

There was a real emphasis on commercial, practical magic that works in the real world. The lecture was packed with usable material, clever methods and strong endings, giving everyone plenty of ideas to work on and develop further.

Andrew's entertaining style, creative thinking and generous sharing of knowledge made for a thoroughly enjoyable evening, with something valuable for magicians of all experience levels.

A huge thank you to Andrew for spending the evening with us and delivering such an inspiring lecture, and thank you to everyone who came along and made it another great night at the DMC. ✨🪄

🎩 Presidents’ Night - Round 4 Recap! ✨

What a fantastic night at the DMC last night! A huge thank you to our performers: Mark, Oliver, Nick and Jonty for putting on a brilliant close-up contest. The card magic, sleight of hand and performances throughout the night were truly phenomenal!

After the votes were counted, Jonty took home the win! 🏆👏
Mark and Nick followed closely behind in 2nd and 3rd place. Amazing work from everyone involved and another fantastic round of competition.

🎩 Magic Lecture Recap - Mike Warlock! ✨

Mike also shared great insight into staging and verticality in close-up magic, along with building a flowing, visual story through careful trick selection. On top of that, he taught several of his own effects, including First Class, Popper, Impromptu Chop Cup and Snapdragon, as well as his take on some commercially available tricks and how he has evolved them for greater impact, giving everyone plenty to take away and work on.

We learnt how to carry less and amaze more, the importance of a strong hook, and how to maximise impact through synergy, where two everyday objects can combine to create something completely new. There was a big focus on creativity too, using the same prop in different ways and not being afraid to just take action, especially when using magician’s choice. It really showed how much you can do with something as simple as a Sharpie.

What an incredible night last week at the DMC! A huge thank you to our performers: Mark, Oliver, Ian and Peter for putting on a fantastic contest. The mentalism was truly mind-blowing!

After a very close vote, Oli took a well-deserved win with an 8 point lead! 🏆👏
Mark and Ian followed closely behind in 2nd and 3rd place. Amazing work from all involved.
