🎩 Presidents’ Night - Round 5 Recap! (The Final Round) ✨

What a fantastic night at the DMC as we reached the final round of this year's President's Wand Competition! A huge thank you to our performers: Mark, Oli, Nick, Peter, Ian and Jonty, who all brought along their favourite pieces of magic and gave us a brilliant evening of entertainment.

There was something for everyone! Mark took us on an intriguing journey through ancestry, Jonty kept everyone on edge with a rather dangerous fish hook routine, Ian treated us to some classic Jay Sankey magic, Nick amazed us with silks and rubber bands, and Oli somehow seemed to know exactly what was going to happen before it did... perhaps he really can see into the future! 🔮

Congratulations to Jonty for taking the win in the final round, with some fantastic performances from everyone involved.

The overall competition came right down to the wire, with the possibility of a draw hanging in the balance until the very end. In the end, Oli secured the President's Wand by a single point! What an incredible finish to the competition and a well-deserved victory after performing consistently throughout the year. 👏🎉

🎟️ Thank you to everyone who supported the raffle, which raised £20 for the club, and to those who came along to watch and support. Despite the football and the warm weather tempting people elsewhere, we still had a lovely audience and were pleased to welcome a couple of prospective members.

👀 While there are no public events planned over the next few weeks, keep your eyes peeled... Halloween may have something magical in store! 🎃✨🪄

🎩 Magic Lecture Recap - Andrew Normansell! ✨

What a fantastic night at the DMC as we welcomed Andrew Normansell for an outstanding lecture packed with practical magic, clever thinking and plenty of laughs!

Andrew shared a wealth of material that members could genuinely take away and perform. The focus wasn't just on tricks, but also the thinking behind them, covering everything from body language and audience management to the small details that can elevate a routine from good to great.

Throughout the evening, Andrew demonstrated how simple methods can create incredibly strong reactions when combined with the right presentation and structure. Members learnt a variety of tricks, moves and routines, along with creative ways to apply principles and methods to develop their own performances.

There was a real emphasis on commercial, practical magic that works in the real world. The lecture was packed with usable material, clever methods and strong endings, giving everyone plenty of ideas to work on and develop further.

Andrew's entertaining style, creative thinking and generous sharing of knowledge made for a thoroughly enjoyable evening, with something valuable for magicians of all experience levels.

A huge thank you to Andrew for spending the evening with us and delivering such an inspiring lecture, and thank you to everyone who came along and made it another great night at the DMC. ✨🪄
