🎨 Meet the Tutor: Emma Streeter – Painter, Explorer of Oils & Acrylics 🌿🖌️

Emma’s creative journey has always been rooted in joy and a love for the natural world. “I’ve always found joy in creating and draw so much inspiration from nature. After years away from painting post-art degree, I picked it up again to relax after teaching—and I’ve never looked back.”

At Hive, Emma leads workshops in water mixable oils and acrylic pouring, helping others find their own creative flow. Emma will be exhibiting her work as part of the upcoming Chipstead & Banstead Open Studios in July.

🏺 Meet the Tutor: Camilla Carter-Webb – Ceramicist & Potter 🌀 &

Camilla’s love for clay began at 15, thanks to an inspiring art teacher who introduced her to the world of ceramics. Though she explored other creative paths after her Art Foundation, the pull of pottery brought her back—and she later trained at Camberwell College of Arts.

“I think it’s incredible how clay can transform into so many different things. It’s such a tactile, expressive material—there’s nothing quite like it.”

Now, Camilla brings her passion and calm energy to Hive, guiding learners through the magic of shaping clay.

🌿 Favourite part of teaching at Hive?
“The relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. I love the social side—seeing new friendships form while people get hands-on and creative.”

✨ Top tip for beginners?
“Don’t be too precious—just enjoy the process. Pottery takes time, and nothing’s finished until it’s been fired. Let go, and have fun with it.”

We’ve got half-day and full-day workshops coming up at Hive, both led by the brilliant Artist Ruth Wheeler. 🪵🎨

Paint & Dine is the perfect introductory painting experience. If you've never painted before or haven't done it for ages then this is for you. Paint-along with Felicity in a relaxed and sociable setting and then reward yourself with delicious meal from our neighbours

Has your child been asking to learn how to crochet? We're here for you and we're back this Thursday afternoon with our weekly kids crochet class. Crochet is a relaxing mindful activity where they can learn to do basic stitches and with their way towards making their own accessories and projects. From 4-5pm every Thursday during term-time we've got limited spaces, if you want to try it out send us a message to get a free trial space for their first week. Everyone works at their own pace so all levels are welcome.

From the cosiest socks to beautiful Dorset Button brooches...our upcoming craft workshops are all about slowing down, getting creative, and learning something new in great company.

Never heard of Dorset Buttons? These little handmade treasures date back to the 1600s and were traditionally made by wrapping thread around a ring to create intricate patterns. Today, they’re a gorgeous way to make unique brooches, embellishments, or even jewellery – and the process is as mindful as it is fun. They are introduced to us by who makes beautiful things and recently hosted a workshop at National Trust Ightham Mote so we're delighted to have her with us.

Join us to stitch, loop, and unwind – perfect for beginners or anyone who loves a peaceful creative moment.
