Calling all experienced knitters!
Our Intarsia Knitting Workshop with the wonderful Sylvia Watts-Cherry is back, and this time we’re making hats! 🎨
We’ve had such lovely feedback from people who’ve learned with Sylvia. She’s an inspiring teacher with a style that’s all her own, and her sessions are a real treat.
Intarsia is colour-blocking without seams. It gives you those bold, crisp blocks of colour that look so impressive, and you’ll leave with a hat to prove it.

These beauties were made at Meet & Make last night. Our monthly social art & craft evening with sophiekavanaghart we offered up the needle felting materials, some inspiration and then people are let loose to create however they feel like it. A good chat round the table, a cup of tea and a bit of cake for good measure. What's not to like?! Swipe for a surprising ending!

Not to be dramatic but there's only 11 weeks to go until Christmas! And only 61 days until you'll probably want to have your wreath up. This year, why not join us to make a beautiful hand-made one with The Hive Design Studio with an abundance of fresh greenery and all the extra twiddly bits provided (ribbons, pine-cones, dried fruit, teasels, the lot!) you can go to town and make a wreath that will see you not just until Christmas but will brighten your door through the winter months. Our workshops are two hours long and include all your materials plus festive refreshments. Someone asked us this week if our wreath workshop dates had been released yet, err yes and some of them are already full 🙈 so we thought we'd better do a reminder for what's on and why you don't want to miss out!
There's something about Christmas that makes handmade matter more. The slightly lopsided, glue-on-your-sleeve, made-it-myself kind of joy that you just can't buy off a shelf.
Our Christmas workshops are filling the calendar: wreaths, baubles, candles, chocolate, cards, crochet and more. Come on your own, bring a friend, bring your mum.

If you're feeling a bit nervous about coming to a class? Please know that you're not the only one.
Lots of people walk through the door unsure of themselves, and we'll always do our best to put you at ease. We find people come because they're curious about how something's done or want to get better at it (even the ones who are already amazing!).
That's exactly why we started The Hive: a place to learn new skills, try different art forms, and banish the "I can't do that" feeling. It's about enjoying the process, not being good at it.
Fair warning though, people keep coming back again and again… it's totally addictive. 🤷

Crafty cosy season has officially arrived at The Hive. The evenings are drawing in, the kettles on, and we've filled the month with things to make, paint, knit and write.
Small friendly classes, no experience needed, and all materials included. Just bring yourself.
Classes are small, so if something's caught your eye, don't leave it too long. We'd hate for you to miss out! Bookings via our website or drop us a message.
