Unfortunately, Croydon RFC didn't manage to go back on the winning side last week against Egham. Like the last few weeks, our 1XV started the game raising to the challenge offered by a solid visiting team with both sides scoring two tries and with a score of 17 all at half times. However, like the last few weeks, Croydon's stamina dropped in the second half with the penalty count going up, ending in two yellows cards against them and allowing the visitors to score few more tries. This is certainly the path to be taken by a still green Croydon side which learns every Saturday in this transition year. Hopefully, this week end off will also allow the long list of injuries since the start of the season to finally go down...Next stop is a big one against Woking...

Different week, different game. After the disappointment of last Saturday, Croydon RFC are back home to play against Egham. No doubt that the boys will want to continue showing all the good things put in place through the season and work on delivering during both halves of the game.

Not the result that the team was expecting when
travelling to Raynes Park. The disappointment was certainly on all Croydon faces after 80 mins of a game where it felt like our 1XV lost composure allowing the home team to come back in the game.
As usual, Croydon started strong in the first half with two tries of their centre A. Jeffrey, finalising solid team work with good moves and connections between backs and forwards. However, despite more points kicked by their skipper J. Bond, Croydon didn't manage to take a comfortable advantage before the break, with a score of 18-10 for Croydon.
After half time, Raynes Park managed to derail Croydon RFC's plan with our 1XV guilty of mis-tackles and being overrun in rucks. Final score: 30-18 for Raynes Park.
Croydon RFC will have to build on this disappointment before receiving Egham at home this Saturday to defend their 4th place in the league.

What an amazing win and a great performance at home yesterday for our 1XV including the 2 tries of our winger James Kell...

What an amazing win and a great performance at home yesterday for our 1XV including the 2 tries of our winger James Kelly. Like the week before, it was a very close game against Mitcham with both teams scoring 2 tries before half time, leading to a 14-all score at the break. Croydon started strong the second half scoring 2 other tries before seeing Mitcham coming back and even taking the lead by 2 points few minutes before the end of the game. It wasn't counting on Croydon's skipper Jack "Nerves of Steel" Bond successfully kicking a 47m penalty putting the Poppies back in the lead. While the last 5 mins was unbreathable, the local team managed to keep the ball safely until the ref delivered both sides from a cliffhanger game finish.
This 3rd win in a row conforts Croydon RFC at the 4th place of Counties Surrey 5 League before a week off and the reception of Staines, the League leader, in 2 weeks at the Hangar.

Great result for our 1XV team this Saturday with their first win (far far...) away vs Feltham. A very tense game (especially the end) with Croydon leading comfortably at half time before seeing the home team come back. Fortunately, the Poppies made enough to secure the win with the help of their For Ever skipper Jack Bond, completing an amazing Full House (at least 1 try, 1 conversion, 1 penalty, 1 drop goal)...
Next week, we are back home vs Mitcham, with the objective of a third win in a row to secure a position in the top 4 in the league...
