F U S S Y A F . Sometimes off-the-shelf just won’t do. Maybe you’ve got a picky friend that needs fussing over for her hen. A new mum that needs distracting from the fact she’s about to pop a melon out of her cherry. 🍒 Or a new home that needs something mega and worth every second of you scratching 18 layers of that horrendous wallpaper off the walls. 🔨 Big up the bespoke bouquet. 🙌 because she’s everything you’ve dreamed of and more. Made to measure. As big or as skinny or as bright or as fluffy as you feel. Because at FFS anything goes.

H O N E S T Y is the best policy. Espesh when it looks this beaut. When I was growing up my garden was full of Honesty. My mum hated it. I quite liked picking it apart and pulling the seeds out. [Not much going on in Yorkshire as a kid, clearly 😆]. Working with it this week on a beaut private commission has brought back all the memories. Like making my own radio show - anyone else?! - Sugar magazine, getting made up at the Body Shop make-up counter and living for Top of the Pops on a Thursday night. If only I still had access to that garden though, I’d be making a mint! 😆

H E A V Y ~ Life feels pretty leaden right now. I’ve had to turn the news off for a bit - I don’t want to bury my head + pretend it’s not happening but at the same time I need a minute away. There is a van leaving at midday on Wednesday to go to an orphanage in Moldova. As a mum to two little girls this feels desperate. 🥺 Our house is filled with toys and games and happiness just because we were fortunate enough, by total chance, to have been born here, in a safe space. So much sadness and guilt and love for the families going through such incomprehensible upset + hardship + sorrow. If you want to donate there’s still time. There’s a unit on Commerce Way, unit 6 in the ZK Park in Croydon. You can drop clothes, toys, food, toiletries- all that kind of stuff. If you need any more info just let me know. Xx 🇺🇦

B E S T D E C I S I O N . Today’s is about our BEST DECISION. Actually it’s about working with our hands but I like this one better + I ran out of time for yesterday’s. 😉🤷‍♀️ well you might not know but when we started out we were called Home+Dried. We named it quickly + moved on but it kept niggling us over and over. Lairy neon brand with a vanilla name. It just didn’t make sense. But we’d got the Insta handles, the website, the lot! But I’m a big believer in going with your gut. And my Cornish-pasty filled gut [we were travelling when we made the call] had spoken. So it was see ya later, HOME+DRIED. And hello from FREAK FLOWER SOCIETY.

It’s no coincidence that we became FFS. It is undoubtedly my most-used phrase. We have many a FFS moment - which I’m going to be sharing more of on here - and it just felt more us.

It’s BAAAAAACK! And so are we! We’re buzzing to be taking part in the this month. This challenge is loaded with good memories for us, because it was pretty much the first content we put out when we launched last year.

So, day 1: You + your work
Hi. I’m Char, Founder of Freak Flower Society. We’re on a mission to revolutionise the world of dried flowers from their crusty + dusty 70s roots + reimagine them as cool, statement blooms that are bloody gorgeous, planet-loving, and long-lasting.

Sustainability is BIG on our agenda. Our flowers are all-natural [no nasty dyes or bleach on our watch], all our packaging is recyclable, we only print on recycled card, we’re a plastic-free biz, and our dried flowers last years not weeks, making them kind to the planet, and a little easier on your pennies too.
