Served straight from the fridge, a chilled glass of the pretty floral and zippy Ca’Vittoria is a guaranteed crowd pleaser. Clean notes of pear, apple, white peach and nectarine, generous with flavour but never overbearing. The prettiest bottle of the lot – a great option to buy as a gift
2) Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore, 12%: - £15.00 (per bottle)
Compared with other affordable brands, this Prosecco is much more straightforward on the palate. Nice and dry, with subtle notes of ripe green fruit and citrus. Smart packaging, grown-up flavours and an excellent price point to boot.
3) Malibran Sottoriva Col Fondo Prosecco NV, 11%: £22.50 (per bottle)
Young winemaker Maurizio Favrel has something of a cult following with this Sottoriva Col Fondo. Slightly cloudy in the glass with delicate aromas of green fruit, floral and citrus carried lightly on a breeze, the first taste is immediately revivifying: fresh, crisp fruit, very light mousse, bone dry with hints of toasted warm bread and a salt-crusted, citrus edge on the finish. Superb quality, tightly structured and ridiculously good with food.
