Introducing…

LOUISE EDWARDS | Louise is an artist from North Wales.

She paints mainly expressive portraits, chase’s the paint around the canvas until she can see a recognisable human emotion that she can read. It will be the case even though the face/body is distorted and unreal, the emotion drawn from it is real.

Louise paints with her left hand, with her fingers on paper, board and sandpaper.

She says she has no plan, draws quick, scrapes with a palette knife, sometimes through annoyance.

She needs to connect, paint a gaze and wants people to connect to the face because ‘people matter, humanity matters’.

Her favourite artists are Chaim Soutine and Jean Micheal Basquiat as she can pick up on immediacy of the artists instincts.

DAVID HOPKINS| David is a Cardiff based graphic designer and artist.

He has worked in the commercial art world, both in the UK and overseas, for well over 40 years and the last 30 years or so has had his own award-winning graphic design and marketing business.

David now works as a designer and artist with a particular interest in images, that have an immediate graphic presence, derived from his own original photographs.

The most recent phase of his work involves producing dramatic, colourful images, currently featuring recognisable landmarks, that are transformed into artworks with a graphic appeal and high visual impact.

How ‘Bug’ uses photography to depict his experiences when out and about. Trying to mask himself from the world, trying to fit in but ultimately feeling lost, out of place and not actually there. A beautiful image unveiling the difficulties faced by a young man living with autism.
