Spring | 3 seasons in as many weeks

I really enjoyed designing this bowl arrangement during a one-to-one workshop with in April.

Since then, we were reminded of winter for a week & now summer has well and truly arrived.

I wonder what it will mean to be a British floral designer in 20 years? Will the peak season shift? Will the stems that feel like home be something of the past, replaced with a more tropical feel? How will people's relationship to nature & british flowers change? There's so much unknown.

For me, building a sustainable British floral design studio is about doing what I can to reduce my impact on the natural world... whilst being flexible enough to make changes, working alongside nature herself. It's an ongoing process of learning, mitigating & adapting.

Spring | Wedding season begins

This is my first full season in the wedding world, having dipped a toe into freelancing last year. I'm feeling so lucky to be working with even more talented florists over the next 6 months, across Kent & beyond, and I'm excited to say I'm open for enquiries as I launch my own wedding, civil ceremony & partnerships offering!

At the core of C&T is celebrating people and love in all forms, through intentional artistry, thoughtfully grown and sustainably arranged seasonal flowers.

The approach is collaborative, and built around your wants and needs by prioritising inclusivity for each unique couple: with designs that feel organic, evocative, and alive, as though they’ve grown for you and your moment.

If you're planning your 27/28 wedding, I'd love to hear from you; for enquiries, see link in bio. (Some limited availability for 2026 for last minute planners!)

Spring | Tulips

With wedding season kicking off next week, I'm soaking in slow studio mornings with garden-grown stems. Aren't these the most glorious parrot tulips?

Spring | The season's finest ingredients

I take a season-led approach with my designs, not only for the environmental benefits (central though they are), but because I truly believe it's the method that delivers the most beautiful stems to you.

Seasonal, British stems bring the winding, twisting form that I cannot resist working with, and all of those delicate and unusual ingredients you can't find when ordering in bulk or from afar. They're completely delicious and once you've grown a taste for them, I'm afraid there's no looking back.

This approach means that while I cannot guarantee what will be in flower on your day, I can absolutely guarantee you'll celebrate your occasion with the finest hand-picked & sustainably grown, local stems on offer: arranged uniquely for your moment.

Spring | Garden style centrepiece

Bringing the outside in with a little bit of everything that's in bloom this week. Helebores are still holding on & as you can see, the ranunculus are really taking off now. Rose and peony buds are coming along, with tulips starting to show their colour.

May, already?

Spring | Yellow upon yellow

As in most years, I didn't get round to planting my bulbs until January. Daffs and narcissi are just hitting their peak here, and tulips are coming along. The buttercups are dancing across a patch in need of weeding, there's beauty everywhere. But these butterfly ranunculus? They're the one for me... this week.

Spring | An April Bouquet

A gentle tutti frutti palette for April. Fritillaria and polemonium dancing throughout & even a touch of bolted broccoli for a bit - but not too much - of yellow. Seasonal British floristry is nothing if not resourceful.

I've finally added a 'proper' camera to my toolbox. It makes such a difference & I'm looking forward to seeing how my photography progresses as I learn how to make the most of it. A final gift from my late Granny, Anna. She would be overjoyed to see what I'm up to these days.

I've noticed quite a lot of us florists receive the love of flowers from our mothers and grandmothers. Making fairy gardens when we're younger, mothers showing us how (& mine loves this song), through to doing the jobs our grandmothers can no longer manage so they can still enjoy their roses... only David Austen for her. 2021 was my favourite summer.

Flowers are love, learning, care: they are connection. We gift them at times of joy and sorrow, we grieve with them, we adorn them upon our celebrations & even upon ourselves! What a gift it is to be part of the process, to share this with you all.

Spring | About Me

I'm Lizzie, the floral designer behind Clover and Tide.

I love sowing, growing, observing, and arranging flowers; the connection they bring me to people and the natural world is pure magic, which I love to share with others. You'll usually find me in my garden, at the allotment, or in my home-based studio here in Kent.

I'm also a student counsellor, and hope to bring these two offerings together in future, to offer the therapeutic properties of floristry and horticulture to those who need it most. This line of work does limit how much of myself I share online, but I bring my whole self to my floral work & client relationships, where it truly matters.

My designs are season-led and crafted entirely with British-grown flowers: honouring natural form, sustainable artistry and meaningful moments. The approach I take is full of care for people, place and the natural world, bringing wild and abundant natural beauty to weddings, events, funerals, and seasonal workshops.

I welcome you to this space amongst the noise of it all - enjoy the flowers, look out for more on my floral offerings, and if you feel the pull to get in touch about your meaningful moment, please do - I'd love to hear from you.

Spring | Reflecting

The colour has returned and this is the perfect season (well, they all are) to visit for a one-to-one workshop.

For so many years floristry felt like a distant dream that I would dabble in much later in life. Just two years ago I could never have imagined being where I am now, and certainly not walking into Graeme's studio - a floral designer I have long admired - as a floral designer myself.

Days like this remind me of what I hope to never lose: the total awe of walking into a room full of flowers and the giddy joy that comes with experimenting and simply playing with these natural wonders. The inspiration that can be found in the work of others.
