The race before the race has already begun… 👀🏃

All 8,000 Cambridgeshire resident places have sold out. But if you missed out this morning, there’s still one more chance.

The remaining Cambridge Half Marathon entries open at 1pm today for everyone who pre-registered, including local residents who missed out. Set that alarm. Will you make it to the start line? ⏰

Look closely at the golden clock face and you’ll spot 1679. It’s easy to admire the grand window and intricate carvings without noticing the date hiding in plain sight. 👀

This is the west entrance of Great St Mary’s, home to the Cambridge University Clock. The church we see today was largely built between 1478 and 1519, but its tower wasn’t completed until 1608. Even this familiar Cambridge landmark took generations to finish.

But its most surprising connection is something you can hear. The church’s Cambridge Quarters became the famous chimes used at Westminster, where Big Ben hangs. A sound recognised around the world has its beginnings right here in Cambridge. 🔔

We found this take on Cambridge online, and it might touch a nerve… especially if you miss the old Grafton. 👀

It challenges the idea that Cambridge is losing its character, raising a question that’s harder to answer than it first seems. If people still wanted those shops and spaces, would they have survived?

But that leaves another question. Did people stop going because those places no longer appealed, or did those places change until there was little reason to go?

It’s easy to agree that Cambridge needs to move forward. Deciding what’s worth keeping, and who benefits from what comes next, is where it gets complicated.

Have a read. Is this a fair challenge to our nostalgia, or does it miss what people are actually worried about?

Let’s separate the myths and the facts. This bridge comes with a story that sounds almost impossible. 😱

Behind these doors are stories of lives changed forever. For so many families this hospital has meant the chance for more time together. 💙🩵

There’s something about sitting at the front of the upper deck of a Cambridge bus. For once, you’re above the cyclists, the crowds and the traffic, with a view you’d never quite get from the pavement.

As the bus rolls along, familiar streets look different. You notice the rooftops, the chimneys, the little details high up on buildings you’ve walked past a hundred times. Then the road opens up ahead, the sky appears between the old stone walls, and even an ordinary journey starts to feel like a sightseeing tour.

No planning, no tickets to anywhere special. Just the best seat on the bus and a reminder to look up now and then. 🚌💛
